Slashdot has a story about a 160 Mpixel camera:

Seitz has taken a massive step forward with their announcement of a 160 Megapixel digital camera! At almost 20" long, with a price tag of around $36,000

Clearly the technology isn't ready for the mainstream, but eventually such powerful cameras may exist in devices the size of cell phones. There is plenty of great discussion at Slashdot and a link to this very neat 720 megapixel image of Sydney, Australia, composed from 169 digital camera pictures.
