WHATS UP MANG!! YOU GOT DA MR BIG DICK BANGING PUSSYHARDCORE PHONE!!!
go in the club, hold that big ass phone up and i guarantee you chicks will be riding your cock before the end of the night. //unfortunately ignorant young women judge a man by his cellphone these days... take advantage of it while you can, lol.//
i think an ota froyo will be out soon, but theres a way to get it on there now.. but if i were you, i'd explore and play with 2.1 as much as you can just to get used to it.
theres alot to configure, explore, alot to do.
some tips to save battery.
- turn off vibrate in SOUND options and Keyboard options
- go into google TALK app, and go into settings, uncheck all that crap that makes it run in the background and startup, go back, then hit menu and SIGN OUT.
- goto brightness settings and uncheck auto brightness, and select a lower level of brightness, default should be fine.
- set your wifi sleep policy to NEVER (located in wifi advanced settings)
- i prefer to turn off all the keyboard predictive text and auto correct crap, it annoys me.
- go into ACCOUNTS & SYNC, set all those apps down there to manual and uncheck "sync" i prefer to leave everything unsynced except weather for every 3 hrs. News, google contacts, and all that other crap can sync multiple times a day draining your battery.
- goto marketplace and download/install advanced task killer or ATK. Go into settings and uncheck "auto startup". select the apps you want closed and press the kill button. Its still debatable if task killers are worth your time on android systems due to the way android system handles processes and memory management.
- goto mail options and set your download frequency rate to every 4 hours or so
- animated wallpaper kills battery, its a novelty to show off to people.
just a few tips off the top of my head.
Unfortunately I am married, and my wife just thinks I am an idiot for buying another phone. But what ever, she buys 500$ purses....bitch...lmao
Thank you very much for the tips. I just did them all.
Now I know you know how to root I think it is called, what are the benifits of this? I heard as soon as I do the next update I wont be able to root it and I dont want to lose that ability if it gives me the ability to have the mobile hot spot to be free and the gps to be free. Whats your thoughts or is that even an option?
Thanks again. Id give you a thanks but the board nazi's took that ability away. Bitches
lol, dont forget to turn off "mobile view" in your internet settings.. otherwise youre going to get the castrated tweak3d forums/internet.
imma have to point you to the droidx forums.
basically rooting will allow you to flash custom roms. Last i heard theres an app on the marketplace or internet that you install and its a simple one button rooting process. Called easy root. dunno if its been pulled yet.

another option

my advice is to peruse the forums for now and just see how things work and how the community responds

the thing with the evo is.. when you root the evo, its advised NOT to update over the air or else it'll break root and/or brick your phone. Then you'd have to wait for someone to find another exploit to gain root access again.
So this is why everyones telling you not to update until you root your phone. I dunno what version softwares you have on your phone, so im not even sure if you can do it right now.
But once rooted, developers release "root safe" roms that you can flash that wont botch root access, these roms include free wifi tethering, speed tweaks, all kinds of good stuff.
while your phone is still stock. goto marketplace and download/install these benchmarks.
- quadrant standard
- neocore
- nenamark
- fps2d
- gears
- linpack
take notes on your results from these benchmarks.. and as you progress through learning how to tweak your phone and flashing custom roms (if you ever venture this far), you can track your progress of how better your phone has gotten.
OMG, I'm so jealous. It was love at first sight when I first saw the Droid X. Fuck me for living in Canada. We have all the shitty/reject phones while playing ridiculous prices for plans.
I finally got a Android phone, the htc desire, and I love it. thanks for the info torx

My sister is looking for a new phone, guess I should just tell her to get the Droid X huh? She says she is 'leaning towards it' but neither her or I know squat about these fancy phone things, and she won't be much of a 'power user'.

Go ahead...smell it.
hows the new phones treating you guys?!?! update!
np miller!
evo just got a leaked updated software revision for better battery life and more tweaks. im using flipzmode's "fresh rom".
so if this guy makes roms for other android phones i highly recommend it. its a rom that is like stock minus all the crap apps that come with the phone + all sorts of internal tweaks for speed and battery life
