im sure that this is because i live in nyc and lost a lot of people from my neighborhood a couple of my friends dads and 55 relatives in my highschool were lost but im really upset that they are making a movie out of it...its a fucking disgrace...nobody in their right mind wants to pay to relive that day

same thing with the Flight ### movie or whatever....

i know there are a bunch of assholes out there who are like oh it looks like a good movie and ill def see it...but you can only truely say that if you dont know shit about what happened that day...

the fact that people want to try and turn a profit off a horrible day like that only 5 years later is disgraceful..thousands of peoples lives were ruined and changed forever that day...its not fair to bring all this shit back

I wasn't in NY when it happened (I lived in Venezuela at the time), but my mom was. Still, I'm 100% with you on that one. I'd only support those kinds of movies if profits went to some kind of fund to help the families of victims, or some charity.

It's like any other form of art, some people just need to work it out by creating or viewing or listeing to art related to tramatic events. That said the studio is just looking to cash in, of course.

As far as tragic real life events made into movies goes, this one looks shitty. It doesn't look like I'd come out with any more understanding of the events, than when I went in.

Schindler's List, Killing fields, Hotel Rwanda etc were all good films, so I don't think I can argue against the genre. It does seem early I suppose, but in the end I don't see a difference because this movie was going to get made sooner or later.

Good example with Schindler's List. But I see one main difference between the World Trade movie and SL. A few decades passed before a movie was made... ppl had time to digest the events.

Maybe that it's a little early to make a movie about a 2001 event that crippled the US' population sense of security

I guess there is something to be said for the time then. Suppose it varies person to person, like anything.

And Spielberg didn't take any profit from the movie (every thing he would have gotten went to the Shoah), although he did use it as a "senior thesis" to finally get a degree.

i think its too soon but really it depends on how this movie is done. If its done as a drama and showing death and carnage and suffering than i say it should fail and its sick disgrace to the nation.
However if its a movie done in the style of Tora Tora Tora after the pearl harbor attacks that shows what led up to the event, what was done after, and what went wrong then its a movie that needs to be made.

but like others were saying, saving private ryan was about WWII (50+ years ago)... Pearl Harbor, 50+ years ago... Schindler's list, 50+ years ago... catch the drift?

Yeah. I still think people could have relived the whole experience (and if Im not mistaken I think I remember hearing something about some war vets having flashbacks when the movie came out).

I'll end up seeing this movie at some point in my life but I definately will not be intentionally trying to go and watch it or rent it.....UNLESS ALL proceeds go to a 9/11 fund.....and I agree with Drakkons post except I think its too early to have all that info avail yet....

i completely agree...of course the holocaust and ww2 and pearl harbor and all those hundreds of war movies are very graffic reminders of what happened that day....but like jaime said...a new generation is being exposed to it and didnt have 1st hand knowledge or experience it themselves for the most part..

like we can watch WW2 movies easily and joke about parts because we didnt lose family...friends and love ones in it (well some grandparents) but even in war movie cases, they knew the risk of going to fight for freedom....all people wanted to do on 9.11.01 was go to work or take a flight, and go home.

The movie would probably be easier to handle if we weren't knee deep in a war that was ment to go after those that attacked us. It would probably be ok to watch if we weren't constantly reminded by our government of the "terrorist threat".

9/11 was the worst day of my life, for many reasons.. I live in Jersey, I saw the smoke (though I had to travel a little ways to see it).. I know what happened that day..... and I'll be seeing this movie.

Whenever I see an ad for that movie, it makes me want to vomit. It is comforting to know I am not the only one upset. Greed > All.

I saw an advanced screening of this movie, and they made a few key changes. It turns out that it was Nicholas Cages powerful sexual appeal that collided with the Word Trade Center. The heat generated by his huge genitals is what caused the fires, and the eventual collapse of the buildings. It was very sad, but had a happy ending. Nicholas Cage feels bad that he caused all this damage, so he rips off his shirt and flexes. His huge rippling muscles displace so much air, that a tordado forms, and rebuilds the trade center.

Robo-Jesus flys to the scene and plants an American flag in the ground. He grabs Nicholas Cage's hand and activates his robo rocket feet and they dissappear into the sunset. Fireworks, celebration, fade to black.

If you stay til after the credits, they play a clip that implies there will be a sequel. It appears that Robo-Jesus was actually sent from the future to destroy Nicholas Cage, and only one armed Robo-Buddha - from the distant past - can save him.
