Women suck at computers

Computers are all over the place: the bank, the sciences, the workplace — in other words, places where women are not. Is this a coincidence? You bet your ass that no it isn’t.

Women face countless problems in their pipe-dream of equality. The biggest being that the whole notion is childish and only realistic to an insane person or someone who has never had a job.

Women also suck at computers.

It’s the same way that men suck at being happy when their best friend gets dumped and then has to rely on them for emotional support. That just doesn’t make the kind of sense to us.

Computers are that way for women.

You see, women don’t understand computers because they don’t understand the basics of cause and effect — that the one causes the other. It’s childlike in its simplicity, I know, but it’s absolutely true.

This backwards mentality applies to computers just as easily as it applies to every other aspect of a woman’s life, which she is right about to hopelessly fuck up yet again by doing the exact same thing and expecting it somehow to magically work this time.

I saw this in action just yesterday while waiting in line for an ATM at the bank. For some absurd reason, a woman had been put in charge of her own finances and had promptly lost her ATM card in the machine. She started frantically pressing buttons, expecting that at any moment something profoundly contrary to what had happened was about to happen. Guess what. It didn’t.

What I’m saying here is that men are better than women because every time a man drops a rock in to a ditch, he knows it’s going to fall. Women think that if they do it enough, it will turn into a Snicker’s bar.

Most people are stupid in general. But yeah, some of the most horrifically dump computer stuff I've ever seen has been at the hands of a woman. But it's not always the case. My wife for example is pretty damn sharp with them, and even does some DBA stuff. And my daughter is good with them too. But they get constant supervision...

The wife just plain can't get past very basic operations. I have met chicks, though, that were very good at using advanced programs and doing amazing things with computers.

i would have to agree, most chicks know how to use aim, browse the net, email and myspace. Besides that they know basically just what they learn if they take any classes in school. I took numerous graphic classes in school, there might have been 5-8 girls in my classes, all knew a decent amount.

I was on the phone with a customer once who apparently was calling in for her husband as he was busy. They thought they had a virus (which we are unable to support) and we recommended a recovery on the computer.

Note** I informed her that the CD would format/erase all information on the hard drive, even though it says the exact same thing on the CD cover.

Back to the story, we end the conversation with the recovery CD doing it's thing (standard windows installation). I get a call about 45 minutes later with this lady bawling on the phone. She's having trouble speaking straight and is crying that all her information is gone. I'm telling her that she was informed of what it would do and the CD has it's own warning right on it. She was like "there has to be some way to get it back, our whole business was on this machine". I felt pretty bad, but I couldn't really do anything. Her husband (who appeared to have returned) was yelling in the background saying stuff like "We're supposed to know this shit?!" and other profanities. That's all I really remember. I felt bad for the lady, not her husband.

Good story ReaveR, I see shit like that all of the time. Serves them right for not having a backup. The sad thing is that I'm sure they still don't have a backup.
