So my fiancee called me today, and she dropped the 'we need to talk' line. Ok. Lets talk. Well she called off our engagement. Whoa, wtf just happened? We had a pretty good run at it, no real problems financially or emotionally so this was a huge surprise to me. She says that she loves me but knows that she doesn't want to spend the rest of her life with me. I don't really know what to say, I'm crushed. I'm sad, and scared. I've loved her like there is no tomorrow for 3 years now, and everything is done.

I don't really know what the hell i expect posting this here, its just that i really have no 'good' friends here to talk to about this. I have 3 months to sort things out in my head and pick up the pieces of my life before we remob. I guess that's about it.

Anyone have any advice?


PS. on a lighter note, i hope i don't die yet, she's still the main benefactor on my life insurance :P

Well man, I know it doesnt matter what I say, but I will say that you have a long life to live, and you shouldnt let this get you down for long. Not that its going to be easy, but just remember that she couldnt wait to say it to your face, why should you mourn about her. She doesnt deserve it. Im not trying to bring in the girl hate though, just that you are a kick ass military man, and there are tons of women out there that would love to be with you.

my WIFE did that to me. Things seemed fine and then one day she said she wanted a divorce. left me for the typical "bad boy" guy for 2 months and then they broke up. she probably regrets it now. worked out for me though as I have a better woman and been with her for over 10 months now.

things will get better. at least you didnt' get married and then she said it. i cried every day forever barely functioning and wanting to die. never thought life would get better but it did. just remember that and you'll find someone even better next time.

Well honestly you can't say that you weren't 100% unprepared for this. Most guys when they get the dump, can remember that a week, month or the past year something didn't "feel right". You either weren't talking very much, she was getting angry too often, or you felt as though she was 'slightly' distant.
Only later does it hit you like a ton of bricks why she did this to you, and then its so clear heh..

Well good luck. Easiest way to pass this shit off quickly, is to find someone else that makes you happy, it helps so much.

As said before me, it's better now than 10 years from now. The long-distance relationship thing can't be easy, I don't know how some do it.
