Woman In Water-Drinking Contest Dies - Local News

How much water is too much?

All I see is a black hole, and sooner or later they’re going to suck each one of us into it. But when they come for me, I'm going to take as many of them with me as I can.

Most people don't realize that drinking water to excess is downright poisonous, as it messes up the electrolyte balance in the body. They just think "It's safe to drink water, so I'll drink and drink and drink, and it will be alright."

I know that the Doc from my boat used to drink 3-4 liters of water per day (while underway) and was fine. He said that you have to drink in excess of 10 liters per day to hit the bad effects of water. I don't expect I will ever meet that.

geeze, in the summer, I drink upwards of three gallons in 8-10 hours....I sweat most of it out as fast as I drink it though.

well i guess, wiskas, on summer, while working and sweating, and when you allow yourself to pee, its ok to drink a lot.
I can drink like 2-3 liters a day, but i pee every hour.

ya in the summer the kitchen I work in gets up to about 55C and we end up drinking a good gallon or 2 of water during a shift.... although you really notice it when your entire face is pouring water out.

The only problem with this situation, though, is did she have any underlying issues with her that could have caused the amount of water she drank to accelerate the problem?
