I'm in the middle of building a pc for the office I work for and I got them a 19" widescreen (viewsonic va1912wb) and I've been using it on my main rig and I'm impressed with how far lcd's have come. So after playing with it for a while I decided to do some research to find out what lcd I would buy if I were to get one right now.

While researching I found a thread reviewing a dell 20" and it had this picture in it for comparisons of another lcd he had.

Original thread here:
http://www.widescreengamingforum.com...pic.php?t=4203

Anyways, that screenshot is amazing!! I didn't realize it was an in game pic until I noticed the gun!!

When did games start looking this good and what card would one need to play games at that level of detail?

A little off topic I'm looking at these lcds:
dell 2007FPW
ViewSonic VX2025WM

You need at least an nVidia 6600+, wouldn't know the ATi-equiv.

And that's HL2.

I just finished up Episode one...what a fuckin' cliffhanger. The graphics of DX10 look so much better than that. I can't wait. Wow, perfect link, I was looking for a place to find out about widescreen gaming. I want to go large and that place may answer alot of questions I have.

The funny thing is, that screenshot isn't even the latest version of the Source Engine for HL2. They made a whole bunch of improvements for Episode 1 that aren't in Lost Coast. But yeah, games now are fucking incredible looking.

Fo Rly, Episode one is kick-ass. It has to be the most polished series I've ever played. Great storyline. Love the Dr. Kleiner speech

HL2 runs fine on mmy 6800gt. Crysis is definately on my to-do list. Been waiting for it since completing Farcry.

That had to have been one of the first things that was fixed. Play it again! Did you ever beat HL2?
