| Indigenous Nudist | A friend of a friend's dad's girlfriends friend is thinking about starting training classes on how to use the internet and broadband to your benefit to "get what you want, when you want safely". Using the many methods available that not many know about. So i ask, is it illegal to teach people how to "get what they want"?? |

| Globe Trekker | Illegal or not he would probably get sued. If they can prove that his actions cost them intellectual property and money then he would be screwed. But that's assuming the media giants found out about it, or that his classes reached enough people to have an impact. Where in the hell does he intend on teaching this stuff? |

| Tweak Minion | I would easily assume it would be highly illegal knowingly teaching people to do that. Although, like MSP said, the person probably wouldn't get caught unless he was teaching an awful lot of people and causing the authorities to take notice. Think of it this way, wouldn't you expect teachers that are knowingly teaching terrorists how to terrorize, to be held responsible and punished accordingly? probably so... |

| Tweak Minion | Agree with what's been posted already. Unless he can do it in a "legal gray area" where loopholes live, he'll be opening himself up for legal trouble. |

| Horrible Person | It's a stupid idea, really. It'd be like running a class on how to steal cars. Of course it's illegal. But, as long as he only taught people that weren't bigmouth douchebags, he could probably be fine. Would he be charging money for this class? If so, that's... pretty god damn illegal. | outside the box! | It's all in how he words his written discriptions and class texts. That's what turns dark black into grey. |

| Globe Trekker | Even if there weren't any legal issues I just think it's an odd idea. Who in the hell is going to pay for classes for information readily available online? The non technical folks aren't going to learn this stuff no matter how the information is presented. They'll just ask their geeky nephew to do it for them. |

| King of the Wicker People | Yeah...I would consider that illegal. It's one thing to tell one person and show them how to do it. But getting a bunch of people together, sitting them down, and showing them how to "get what they want" off of the internet...just a tad wrong in my opinion. |

| Jolly Bolly Fo-Folly | Well the fact is it is not illegal to teach someone to do something wrong unless you actually do it. So telling someone how to do something is not the same as doing it and showing them. If you choose to show them how and at that point you would be doing something wrong. Piracy and downloading things without permission are still somewhat grey matter in law. The MPAA and RIAA would have you think that downloading things is completely illegal, but there are things that make it not illegal and only civil issues between you and the copyright holder. There are things that can make it really against the law. I am not an expert or a lawyer but I would say that doing a class like this is okay as long as nothing illegal is actually done. You know you could demonstrate possible actions using legally attainable things, like creative commons works. If you check out some of the articles that have been written for Tweak3D you will notice that there is one that explains how to find music files using Google. That isn't illegal but in a sense is the same as what is trying to be done here. So there you have it. |

| Vagabond | Why not just teach them how to download and use peer to peer and bit torrent. None of this is illegal, it is up to the people you teach what they want to download, teach them on stuff that is legal. EDIT: I didnt read anyones reply before I replied myself. Chapel hit it on the noes. |

| From Utah, NOT mormon | I don't think there will be any legal problems as long as he teaches people how to download stuff without a copyright, or freely distributed stuff. Like teach people where to find songs from Indie artists without labels who just put their stuff on the web to download, or free movies, games, etc. Just because you teach somebody something doesn't mean you'll get in trouble if they use it the wrong way. IE if I went to the local gun store and took firearm classes. If I took what I learnt there and used it to kill people, you couldn't blame the person who taught me how to use the gun because he didn't know what I was going to do with it. |
