Whatcha doin this weekend?

I just got a pass to the Calgary Folk Music Festival for $60. They were $150 at the gate when they were available. Runs Thursday to Sunday. Also a going away party friday night after the festival.

I'm meeting a visiting colleague at a local ice cream place on Sunday. I'll mow the grass, work out, do some shopping. Other than that it's wide open. I see a trip to the local coffee roaster at some point.

spending the afternoon today at the wake for my grandfather and then spending saturday burying him. sunday i get to go to the bronx zoo though so that should be fun. it'll be the only good day of my vacation to CT that started with me stepping off the plane and my mom telling me that my grandfather died. this vacation sucks.

yeah i was. i went to see him every two weeks my entire life until i moved to seattle. it's been a really tough past couple of days. he was 95 and would've been 96 this upcoming thursday so he had a good life. we just always thought he'd live to be over 100 though since he was in great shape. he lived by himself and was never sick. he got bit by a tick a few weeks ago and got some disease that mimics malaria. he went into the hospital on friday the 18th and died the morning of the 23rd. way too quick for it all to happen. (sorry for the downer post)

I'm sorry to hear that, emily. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

As for my plans, my dad and sister are visiting. First time I've seen them in over 7 months. I can't wait!! We are planning a trip to washington dc, maybe a run to busch gardens, and we are planning on going out to karaoke. Should be a great time!

I shed a tear for you sweet emily. Just know and always remember that death is only the beginning. Hang on to all the man has given you and carry him with you. It's the best act a person can do: to carry the memory and lessons the person left with you into the remainder of your life and pass them along to others. That's why we really are here.
