It sounds like you just wanted to rip on American Music which has nothing to do with this thread :P
You can't really blame him, though =)

I listened to Panic! At the disco and I came to the conclusion that I will never listen to them again.
I went to a battle of the bands and I liked these two bands from Wisconsin.

Not sure where you live exactly but Crackpipe and I are in the middle of wiggerville. We live in a place called Kendall. It's a semi-comfortable area of Miami. Not the point...

You've had a long week at work. It's Friday, the weekend, and you just want to have dinner and watch a movie with your girl, right? Nothing major, just spend some quality time and relax. BUT YOU CAN'T...because motherfuckers are blasting 50 Cent and Nelly out of their parent's escalades...and that's just on the road. But when you park and walk towards the box office to buy your tickets, you've got 15 year old shit heads wearing white tees down to their knees and some random basketball team cap. The girls make it all the better, running around in packs of 2's and 3's chasing the 15 year old boys because that's their way of flirting and screaming for the stupidest shit. This is just the 12-17 year old range. Then I get to the recently graduated highschoolers who can't help but wear the same pinstripe shirts and hollister tees with a blowout and Hush Puppies.

I'm sorry, you can see how much this annoys me. Going to something as simple as the movies has become a fucking joke with the most immature crowd.

I despise a lot of the bands all of you listed and are ashamed for your that they were mentioned... but hey I don't think music sucks these days. Music "sucks" these days because all of the popular music which we are told what is popular by TV and radio, is fake and generated to make money.

with that said...
Sparta sucks
Dragonforce isn't really metal it's just guitar masturbating using 6 guys for what Blind Guardian did with 4
Disturbed should be erased from the planet
Bands like Saves the Day and The Used are fagjunk
Dreamtheater is more guitar masturbating
Wolfmother tries to be Black Sabbath

oh and i remember when My Chemical Romance was getting big half of you ate that shit up and loved it. Huh?

If you think all the good music is gone then you just aren't looking hard enough.

(oh and i bet most of you think the bands i like suck too so don't take it personal)

yea, DF is masturbation

If you like metqal, get to the basics..

Children of Bodom, Dark Tranquility, In flames..

with the quantity of albums, you have enough to be occupied a looong time

and Reaver: I live in Montreal. I see wiggas and these italo-faggots each day (remember the pic of these guys with tans, spiked hair and stupid mouth poses like they are kissing)

To those of you who say Dream Theater is guitar masturbation: you've never taken a course or done any studying on music theory. It's not just incredibly fast, theres a lot more to it. A lot more that you can't see, because you obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

Ok, seriously. I know you don't want metal. Here's a few bands that are a bit more relaxed. Not as heavy as metal can be.

Opeth. Particularly their "Damnation" album. It's extremely soothing.
Control Denied. Chuck Schuldiner (Death) on guitars. Clean vocals which are kind of close to Dream Theater.
Angra. Fantasy metal.
Cacophony. Virtuoso guitarists Marty Friedman and Jason Becker. Most of it is instrumental, but there are vocals.
Before Christ. I don't even know how to explain them, but they're pretty mellow at times.
Avantasia. A bit more symphansized power metal.
Armored Saint. Old heavy metal, circa of the debut of Motorhead and most NWBHM. (new wave of british heavy metal)
Apocalyptica. They have their own music, but are well known for their Metallica covers. All Cello band.
Nightwish. Operatic metal with a female vocalist.
Rebel Meets Rebel. Check them out, seriously. It's Pantera's studio recordings before Dime died. David Allan Coe singing.
Saxon. Same as Armored Saint.
Sonata Arctica and Evergrey. Two different bands, same style. Deemed "Flower metal" .. come on, Sonata does a cover of Bette Midler's "Die with your Boots On".
Exodus. 80's thrash, and they're still around, released two albums in the last 4 or so years.
Therion. Kind of like Nightwish.

Yes I know it's hard to do and it's very technical, I'm not dumb or have an untrained ear. I can read music and played piano for many years so my music appreciation isn't unfounded... but i mean just listen to it. How is it not just showing off and doing the most complex guitar work they can do?

Honestly... new dream theater is terrible.

* Oh and I listen to metal almost exclusively... but I don't discriminate before I listen and hate.

By metal i mean Nile, Slayer, Gorgoroth, Death, Isis(which was listed and I saw them last week ) , Opeth, Deicide, Pig Destroyer... crazy music. I can get down with a lot of different music but nothing does me right like some insane ass metal.

I guess thats just it right there - its the difference between classical and romance music. classical was technical, romance was nice to listen to. whatever floats your boat I guess.

Either way, even if you don't like dream theater, theyre extremely talented musicians.
