really, I am looking for some new music to listen to, but all I find is this emo/screamo bullshit. why cant we have another great band, like we had in the 90's? so far i havent found a new band that has screamed Hey listen to me, you wont get tired of me, and its original!

i mean, a new band thats the equivalent of nirvana, or ratm, or i dunno, anything good that stands out.

it's killin me. I've been trying everything, and its all been dissapointing me.

(btw not all bands are dissapointing, but the bands i like i've already listened to extensively)

lets see what i like that's new-ish:

seether, audioslave, tool, coheed (well before their newest one) mars volta, she wants revenge (a good new one), and some other stuff, typical of a 21 yo guy who listens to 90's rock.

anyone wanna help me and recommend some stuff?

We stood on the mountain tops with calenders and guns
Made peace with the savages
Swapped livers for their lungs
Bathed in different shades of beige,
The new world had begun

I know what you mean. Music that's been put out lately SUCKS, especially when it comes to metal. The stuff people call metal music really makes me sick. There's really only a few good bands out there anymore.

Check out Dream Theater. If you like Rush, DT is a bit like them, except on steroids. In reality, if I want to listen to rock, I won't go past anything made after the 80's. Classic rock > anything recent.

Wolfmother.

Classic sounding rock, yet rather recent self titled release that you can't help but turn up really really loud.

I heard them on Conan oBrien lastnight. They were ok. Better than most of the crap that's been churned out lately, such as "Eagles of Death Metal". Man, they suck.

Disturbed? Oh by the way....+1 for Dreamtheater. "Pull me under" is one of my favorite songs of all time. It has alot of changes like Creed's "One."

I don't really have much to contribute, but on the topic of Tool, I saw them last night at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.

Oh man, what an incredible show. When they go on their large tour later this year, everyone has to go see them.

It's true.

There's no such thing as good music or good movies anymore.

Death From Above 1979 is the coolest "new" band I know of. Check em out.

I must be getting old. I haven't heard much in the last 10 years that floats my boat. I'm sick of rap. screamo metal is rediculously "screamo" and I just don't care to listen to much with lyrics at all anymore. Lately, I've been exploring some of the old classics like REO Speedwagon, Dire Straits, Floyd,
Cash, and yes, even Roy Orbison. It's pathetic, I used to be the one on the block that blasted Metalica to the extent that the cops would show up and tell me to turn it down. Shit.

Until now, never!before in Earth history, has mass extinction involved a choice.

I thinkk someone says this every generation. Its not that the music isnt good, its just not what you like. Music evolves. People said the same things about jazz, rock n roll, etc. I think theres tons of good music out there.

I feel for ya' man, I'm stuck in the 90's too.

Though, I do enjoy some White Stripes now and then. If you go past the radio songs, they have some really cool stuff. I'd suggest Sonic Youth as well, but that might be a little too much for you, and they're not really current music: they've been around since '81, but they just put out a new album and are still touring to this day.

If you don't mind listening to obsucre 80's and 90's rock/alternative bands, let me know and I'll list some good ones and I can even upload some albums.

i like urban rap from up north.. ny style. Everyone usually has a story to tell or has really good beats.
UNLIKE this crappy mainstream rap and gangSTER rap. wtf. Music sucks these days.

i miss counting crows, u2, rollins band, all those 90's alternative groups
nowadays, its emo, cry baby, over the top screaming metal that really gives me a headache.
I got burnt out on 70's-80's rock in high school i cant bear to listen to it now..

I just cant relate to any music these days and its starting to frustrate me.

Check out Citizen Cope. Mellow, very good stuff.

I find myself listening to music from the '60s, '70s, and '80s the most, followed closely by music from the '90s, and just a little bit of current music.
Music and movies have been going downhill for a while now....

Wow, some of the names of these bands just really suck. They don't really even tell you about the band, something that a name should do. Of course, most decent names have been taken; just like people online using numbers on their names, I guess you could say, haha.
