its slow at work and some co-workers and I are discussion this because A) we all work in a large office environment so germs are easily passed around between all the people in our build and B) because most of them are fat ass out of shape bankers who drive around in our parking lot for 10 mins so they can find a spot that saves them15 out of a possible max 50 steps they take through the entire day.

Because of this, being sick is not uncommon in these parts and we rant about it a lot.

Since I <3 T3D more then most of the people here I’ve decided to take our conversation to my computer.

Sooo, what do you do when you’re sick to feel better? For whatever reason I’ve always avoid over the counter medicine as often as possible, I take prescription medication when need be, but if I try to avoid all the over the counter chemicals I can.

When I’m sick I just try to drink as much OJ and water/green tea as I can, stay really warm and sleep a lot. My body permitting I also try to go for a light jog to jumpstart my immune system.

As crazy as it might sound, if I have a cough, soar through or any kind of chest cold I take half a glass full of rye and swig it around in my throat before I go to sleep. I can’t believe how well it works. A friend of mines dad from Trinidad taught me about it, He owns his own jewelry business and hasn’t missed a day in over 20 years. For one it helps you get a sound nights sleep because your less restless, and the alcohol helps kill all the germs and bacteria in your mouth and throat, I don’t have any scientific proof to back it up, but it sure as hell works for me.

If I’m really stiff and soar or have headaches from a head cold or anything like that I normally just smoke a J. if I have a soar throat or a coughs and can’t sleep I take a ripe from my B, but I fill it with hot water. the vapors help my throat, the bud helps me sleep.

they probably sound like some pretty half assed methods, but they work just great for me

My system is this. Drink a shit-ton of water. Eat citrus fruits and drink citrus drinks. and sleep. That's all I bother to do anymore.

Normally I just stick it out and it it's still around in a week or two (depending on severity) I go to a Dr. Last time they gave me some heavy shit because I had a cold and a staph infection.

I make myself laugh.

I take 2-3 showers a day when I'm really sick. I just really, REALLY feel the need to shower when I'm sick. I drink a lot of water and tend to eat softer/more easily digestible food.

rye = whiskey right?
I hadn't heard that method before.

Anyways, I don't get sick often. Generally one or two minor colds in the winter, but nothing that ever truly stops me from going to work.

Allergies are what really get me I've been having the worlds worst headaches these past few days.

Tons of fluids.. Water always tastes foul to me when I'm sick. I drink Sprite and CLEAR colored sodas.. Over time soda will dehydrate you when you're sick.. so don't drink it all the time.

Avoid milk and orange juice.. They both build up a ton of mucous.

Hot showers are definitely nice.

Eat or drink orange juice and make sure there is plenty of fresh air around me (opening windows). And staying very warm and keep my body heat up. No medicine needed!

I take dayquil if I have to work, or if it's really bad. Other than that I just kind of stick it out. I very rarely get sick, though. This last winter was brutal, though.

What does your Mom and Vietnamese culture have in common? Chicken soup. The Vietnamese eat chicken soup (pho ga) daily for breakfast because it wards off sickness. They don't have the luxury of over the counter medicines like us. 1,000 years of test trials can't be wrong.

last time i got sick was 6-7 years ago, hell i really dont remember. i dont get sick, dont get colds, flu, viruses..

but if i were to get sick, im guessing hot showers and being up and active (when you sleep is when viruses attack), drinking lots of vitamin C orange juice..

Chicken soup, hot shower or soak in a hot tub of water. No OTC's, then it's all about cowboy up.....cowgirl down.

Say goodbye to our beloved planet. Because there is
alot more money to be made in emitting greenhouse
gasses, than curtailing emissions.

Get out of the box, then recycle it.

I drink a shit load of water and if I have some type of cold I will take Sudafed if it gets bad. If I still have a sore throat I will drink some Jack Daniels after a shower.

And once I start feeling a tad bit better or just when I get sick of being sick, I drink coffee. Sounds dumb but it helps me when I get tired of just sleeping all day long (for extended sickness, not just the first day)

Hmm usually when Im sick there is no fix for it. So I do the next best thing, good ole painkillers so I can sleep the sickness away. 4 perks and a shot or 2 of crown. Does the job every time.

Edit: Maybe my opinion is not valid here

You typed my response for me! Only I would add one more:

4.Get lots of sleep.
