| | Went Mountain Climbing This Weekend (56k) | permalink #1 |
| infinite resolution | So my dad and I went to climb Chimney Rock, a peak about 2 hours out of Seattle, off I90. ![]() There it is in the winter time, we are shooting for the middle of those peaks. ![]() Hiking in. Ok, so maybe my dad wears strange hats ![]() A look up towards where we are headed, with some amazing waterfalls along the way. ![]() Just some cool rotten wood. ![]() There are few things more satisfying than drinking fresh water ![]() The glacier and peaks. We set up a camp below here and climbed up to scout out the area. ![]() Mountain flowers. ![]() Dinner time, hooray. ![]() Woke up at 5AM to get started. ![]() Walking a dirt spine towards the glacier. ![]() Climbing around the icefall. ![]() Just getting started. ![]() Ah, there is the sun! ![]() Climbing up the glacier to the base. The one on the left is what we are climbing. ![]() Gotta love year around snow. ![]() Getting off the snow and starting up the rock. My dad lead all the climbing sections. ![]() He climbs up as I belay, puts in protection, and I follow and take it out as I go up. ![]() A nice view of Mt Rainier which we have climbed. ![]() Nearing the top. ![]() And the view from the top, not bad eh? ![]() My dad pointing out climbs he has done. ![]() Mmmm, GU! ![]() The victory shot. ![]() And time to head down. ![]() Rapelling down. ![]() This spot was a bit shaky... ![]() Finally getting back down. ![]() Just looking at the side, where the snow and rock meet. ![]() Returning to base, packing up and heading out... ![]() ...In the dark! It was a long day, about 20 hous from waking up to getting to the car. The only real sit-down break was about 30 minutes at the top. Great climb, all I have to say is: The northwest > where you live | |

| Party? Where? | Nice. You guys are extreme. Your dad smoked alot of dope, and wore a purple bandana back about 40 years ago or so right? reminds me of my dad, but instead of mountainclimbing he gets drunk off his ass by himself in our yard and then starts to publicly urinate! | |
