Does anyone know any sites that offer free "person searches"? I'm trying to find someone in my family but everything costs money.

Thanks,
Chris

used to be many sites for free, but all have been changed to paysites.
This one purports to be free, but there's always a hidden cost somewhere:

let me know if it's truely free.

Thanks Whiskas

It's free up until the point of details, like their email address, etcetc.

I'll keep searching around though. I'm looking for my Dad, if anyone cares. I feel oddly white trash.

People/family searches should be sponsored by tax dollars and be free to all. I'd rather have tax money go to that than to some government in bum fuct timbuctoo to study the mating habits of shrimp. After all, the feds have the biggest database on every birth certificate and SS numbers and can control access by family members to prevent fraud and misuse.

Alright, the story gets better now.

I just called my Mom to tell her that I was gonna start searching for him, and she goes "Oh, I got his cell phone number a few weeks ago, here it is ____"..

I'm nervous to call but I must!!

Details to come.

This hits pretty close to home, as my wife was an orphan and sought out and found both of her biological parents. Just keep in mind that:

A) He's carrying around a lot of guilt about not being involved in your life

and / or....

B) He's a selfish asshole.

In either scenario he's bound to act weird or even a little belligerent. Just be prepared. And good luck.

Hey,

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the kind words.

Well, my Dad is a deadbeat, I've never met him and only talked to him once in my life when I was 8. He promised the world to me and said we'd meet up, only to split again. When you're 8 that hits you pretty hard.

I've been searching online occasionally for any info, contact stuff, etc., but since he owes so much in child support from when I was little, he works under the table and pretty much hides from the World (sad I know).

But anyway, my Mom got his cellphone number from his parents a few weeks ago. Without going into detail (as if I havent already ), the call didn't go good. So, I got the number from my Mom and called him this morning. I left a message saying I would like to speak with him, etc., and to call me. If he doesn't, it's his loss, and he can continue to hide.

We'll see how it goes I guess

If you don't mind me asking, why after all this time do you want anything to do with him?

All I see is a black hole, and sooner or later they’re going to suck each one of us into it. But when they come for me, I'm going to take as many of them with me as I can.

I guess I just have a lot of questions to ask. Even when I was little I had so many questions I wanted to ask him, lots of "Whys?", etc. I guess thats all I really want now. I don't see a relationship ever forming between us.

I asked my wife the same question, and she didn't have a good answer. There must just be something to it that those of us who grew up with our biological parents don't understand.

A few years after meeting her biological mother she called and asked my wife never to contact her again. And her biological father has pretty much done the same thing. People who walk away from kids like that generally have issues to say the least.

My cousin tried to get in contact with her father, he told her to never call him again, a few years passed by and she got a call from his wife saying he was dying, and he wanted to talk to her. She went (dumb bitch IMO) and he told her how sorry he was and some shit like that, she was more fucked up after all this then she was without him in her life.
