Shortly after my wife and I got back from vacation, we went and took a look at a house. It was great, we made an offer, the owner made a counter offer, and we accepted. That was a month ago.

Today is the day. We get possession! I'm hoping to move all of our stuff from our rental house to the new house today. EVERYTHING MUST GO!

I even have the cable guy coming to make sure the lines are good for hi-speed, high-def tv, and run an extra line to our bedroom for our extra television.

Ahhh...just can't wait to get in there. I'll post pics once I get evertyhing set up.

UPDATE: We didn't get everything moved in one day, which sucks. What sucks even more is that the lazy s-o-b's that used to own the house said they were gonna cleanup. I walked into the house yesterday at noon...what a mess. None of the floors were cleaned, the fridge and stove were a mess, all the cupboards were dirty inside, and they left a few pieces of crap behind. WTF? And of course, the realtor we dealt with went away to europe for a couple of weeks. What a crock.

So...we have to wait until Saturday before we get more stuff in now because I have to work today.

"...but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope."

Congratulations! Is this your first house?

We made an offer on what would be out second house yesterday, but we were the third offer so we went a grand over asking. I am hoping to hear back today.

Yep...first house we'll ever have owned.

It's quite funny because I had been watching this house for sale for a month and a half. At first the owner tried to sell it privately for way too much. Then she went with a realtor, which brought the price down by about $12,000. We got back from vacation, took one look at it, made an offer, and ended up buying it for about $6000 less than what the realtor suggested to the owner.

Out of the deal, we got washer, dryer, fridge, stove, and deep freeze included with the place. It was awesome.

Not to mention the fact that there was another couple who was looking at the house, through another realtor, who was going to see it the next night for the third time. I laughed that we snatched the house so easily from them. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Congrats man! A house is a huge investment, best of luck to you.

Way to go on snatching it from right under the noses of that other couple.

I've got family in Toledo (I'm from Cincinnati) and you're right - Toledo isn't a place I'd care to live. Enjoy out West though dude, nice house! Now if MaesterB would just post some pics... :P

I'm not that well off unfortunately. Are you asking what percentage rate I got or the size of the loan? As far as loan type it's a conventional 30-yr fixed.

Unless he plans on giving you his financial situation I'm not sure how you could tell if he got ripped off.

Well, they rejected the offer, there were two other offers and they aren't allowed to disclose the details, but we offered a grand over asking and it wasn't enough. Back to the hunt we go. We are looking at 5.75% fixed. That's not locked yet, but it'll be at least as good as that.

Usually they hide the condensors behind or on the side of the house, on the ground.

Looks more like a 'swamp cooler'(fancy name "evaporative cooler"). They work suprisingly well and cheap in the dryer parts of the country. We have one at my work, works well enough.
