We had a storm the other night, think it was the night of the 18th. Wind and rain was coming strong, I thoroughly enjoyed it because the last week had been in the 100's. Here are some pictures of what happened because of the wind.

It came from this little shed thingy, ripped the roof right off of our neighbors little horse shed.

They came and cleaned it up, but there is quite a bit of damage in the cab of the van. The dashboard was ripped apart and part of the front body that held the windshield in was pulled outwards. It wont be cheap to fix, a lot of it because of the rarity of the vehicle.

The neighbors say they wont pay for anything because they had no control over it, but I call bullshit on that. If they would have built their shed properly with hurricane ties or at least more sturdily this wouldnt have happened. If the situation was reversed they would expect money from us.

So it is looking like the only way to recoup any costs on fixing it, is by suing them most likely in small claims court. I didn't like them anyways.

"if you mow your lawn and find 2 or more vehicles..." -Jeff Foxworthy

Also, it's their cost, IMO. Pretty sure damage caused by storms (i.e. trees falling over on someone else's car etc...) is the owner of the offending object...

That makes no sense but I'm fininshing up a long work day and am tired as hell, sorry. I think you get the point though. Good luck.

That makes sense, and what we believe, but we talked to an insurance guy (my brothers car insurance guy) and he said unless we had comprehensive insurance on the vehicle there is no coverage at all. That being the case, if we did have insurance, then they would go after the neighbors as retribution and to cover their costs. As it stands I believe our only course of action is to sue them if they refuse to pay for anything.

The previous owner didn't take care of the lawn here, and planted some weeds. We mowed most of the 5 acres, but there are a few spots that are behind vehicles that aren't easy to move that haven't been cleared. Like this spot.

i wondered what happened to the original title, lol

but yea, looks like shit hit the fan.. i have the slightest clue about these situations, but is the van even running? It looks like its been sitting there for decades.

they should def pay, but i wouldnt expect much from their part.. they'll definately use the "cant control mother nature" excuse

Good thing it only hit the van. Had it been a person, it could have been a decapitation,

You can try and get their money but they've got an "Act of God" on their side as any wind that's strong enough to pick up some siding and throw it your direction isn't common.

Arent there regulations on having roofing and things like that installed with hurricane ties or something similar. Even if thats not the case, the roofing was obviously not secure because no other roofing came off, or trees fell down. Just their faulty roof.

The van runs, its just we haven't needed to use it.
