I have gave it a lot of thought today.

I haven't really done much with my life.
I'm 20 years old. I have a car, but it's broken down in the driveway.
I quit Tech school.
I quit my job.
And, I smoke a lot of pot.
I haven't done anything with my life.
I haven't won anything important.
Never got first in anything (although, I must admit, I never tried)

I think it's time. I am thinking of joining the NAVY. I'm unsure of what I want to do. I think Photography would be awesome to do or journalism. Not entirely sure.

I think I might talk to my ex-step-dad who was in the NAVY. He knows a recruiter and knows what he's doing. So I might come back later tonight with more info or something...

I don't know what to do with this thread now...

I didn't know what the fuck I wanted to do or be when I was 20 years old. The Navy is what I wish I had done. And lay off the damn pot, it'll keep you in a state of arrested development.

Do something else with your time besides smoking pot. That shit's a waste of time.

My question is why did you quit your job/school?

Well, you see...That shit IS a waste of time, hence me wanting to do SOMETHING. I smoke a lot of pot because in my opinion there isn't much to do and because it's fun. I sit with a close group of friends. like 5-8 of us and just hang out.

I quit my job because I was making 7.20 an hour, getting like 15 hours a week. (switched from like 30 because of me going to tech school)

I quit my schooling because I had no transportation. I lived with my friend and my mom. I used my friends car a lot to attend school, then he started getting angry for me using it (even though I put gas into it) So, I kind of had to.

I would strongly recommend that you don't join the Navy or any armed force for that matter since you're unsure about it. You could end up completely regretting it. Try not to think of it as a last resort.

In regards to your job, I think you should've stayed. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going. Something like that. Meaning life will kick you in the ass sometimes and you need to work with what you have. If that means working for a while to save up money for a car so you can go to school, then do it. Seriously, for your own good, lay off the weed. I wouldn't be surprised if this is causing you to be lazy or giving you this feeling.

Weed is ok in moderation, meaning once in a while to relax and enjoy things. It's not good as an everyday thing although when i was smoking daily, i was still taking 4 classes and maintaining a job. I, too, am at a point in my life where i wanna do something already. And it seems since i dont have much to lose, it would be easier to do something more drastic. As silly as it sounds, i would love to live in Japan. Why cant i drop eveything and just go? I dont wanna stay in Miami any longer, i'm tired of spanish people, even though i'm Colombian. I guess i just need somethign that motivates me, and Miami aint doing it.

Shut your mouth and think it out.

I'm 20 and in school. Sure it's pointless (and a waste of time) now, but it's worth it in the long run. I'm not 100% sure on what I'm doing, but if you sit down and put some thought into it I'm sure you'll find something better than the military (not that that is a horrible option).

Why not get a Criminal Justice degree (the easiest degree, at least at my school) and go into the military a higher rank?

I did just that, (joined the Navy). I did it for the same reason. I was working a nowhere job, making no money. Only difference is, I had no real education. So, I joined the Navy into the Nuke field thinking that I would at least buy myself 6 years to decide what the hell I wanted to do. I wouldn't regret it for a minute. I am one of the few that found belonging in the Navy. Since I've joined, I've gotten married, built a (stable) home, and began making headway in the world. I have decided to even reenlist, and I am planning on retiring out of the Navy. The only piece of advice I give you, is to at least ask about the Nuke field to the recruiters. If you can do it, do it. You'll never regret it (as long as you have the determination to make it through). It's much faster advancement, huge bonuses, and more pay. Why not try for it? Then if you don't like it, you could even join a civilian nuclear power plant, making in excess of $50,000 starting out. Just be sure to think things through before you make any decisions.

Why the fuck do you keep capitalizing the word, "Navy"?

EDIT: I'm sorry, but that really confused me. It sounds like you're about to undertake a big change and you deserve props for it. Just make the best decisions you can on a daily basis and you'll find you enjoy life a lot more. Just my advice. Best of luck, man. I know it can be kind of hard to crawl out of a rut. But at least you're still young enough to do something about it.

Isn't it technically NAVY?

You're supposed to capitalize "Navy"? Huh. I had no idea. Learn something new every day. I suppose that is because in Canada we're used to simply refering to our Navy as "the boat".

And I know I haven't always been nice. But endevoring to change your life is a huge step, and you deserve a lot of respect for that. It's not going to be easy, as I'm sure you're aware. You'll probably be wracked with a great deal of frustration and feelings of hopelessness. I was in a bit of a rut, too. In my instance, I thought long and hard about what I wanted from the future, and determined what would be needed to accomplish (or at least place myself in a better position to accomplish) that end. I had to start from scratch, and there's a chance you will too. Reconstruction from the ground up.

As far as the NAVY goes, the armed forces can be very rewarding for some, but it's certainly not for everyone. Be absolutely sure that it's what you want to do before you walk into that recruitment office. And it's recommended everyone forget everything they ever saw in Pauly Shore's "In The Army Now".

Yup, the word "Navy" is the title of the branch of our armed forces. It is capitalized just like Army or Marines is. Also, it isn't typed all in caps. Why in the hell would we do that?

Smokin the stuff will take you down if you do it as much as I did. After awhile it just became neccessary.
The Navy is a great career. My brother, of all people, managed to stick with it for 23 years and retired in great shape. He spent alot of time in Olongapo, Phillipeans and loved it. Spent years aboard the Enterprise and a few years as a recruiter.

The reason people type it in uppercase, is because it's typed that way on advertisments and uniforms, etc. In writing it's Navy, but y'know... the majority of people have issues with spelling here.

Mmm, bacon.
