The low down is that a guy named Francis Fukuyama is (well was) neocons in IR literature. His 'groundbreaking' thesis was that history was basically over, as all that would occur from now would be the proliferation of American stylized democracy around the world.

Now's he's saying he was wrong, and the current approach is wrong. And with someone as respected as much as him, that takes balls. Sorry, if this is kind of nerdy, but his book is mandatory reading for first year.
