Well, two weeks from today I'll be heading over there to do a photography/design internship for the summer. I'm really excited to be doing this, but I don't know what I'll be doing OUTSIDE of work.

I'll be living in Charlotte, more specifically the South Park area. I won't know anybody at all while I'm over there, so I'll need to find ways to entertain myself.

Hit me with any suggestions. Also, if anybody in the Charlotte area wants to get together to do something, let me know.

Wow, sick man.

I live in Concord, about 15 minutes from South Park area. I just moved here in late April, and it's fucking BEAUTIFUL. There seems to be a lot more to do than where I was living in Jersey, and from what I hear the nightlife is pretty fantastic (really haven't gotten out at night yet). The only drawback I can tell so far is this heat. It gets insanely hot down here.

Also, the people here are insanely nice. A little too nice at times. Again, I could just be used to the typical New Jersey asshole, but I feel much more welcome here.

I really think you'll like it.

I've heard of North Carolina being really beautiful but it's not something I was expecting. When I think of NC, I think of tons of greasy rednecks eating at Applebees and Hardee's.

The heat is going to be difficult to get used to for sure. I've lived in Alaska/The Northwest most of my life so it's going to be a bit of a shock to my body, heh.

Same here. I came from Northern NJ, which gets insanely cold during the winter. My grandfather has been telling me that Nov/Dec is like 60~ degrees in NC. It's gonna be a shock, lol.

But no, there are rednecks down here (as I'm sure it's the same with anywhere in the South) but it's just such a HUGE area, there seems to be something for everyone.

Also, you're 15 minutes to the South Carolina border where you can buy all the fireworks and explosives you want \m/

Do you know how the public transit is? Though I do have a car, I prefer taking the bus as it's a lot cheaper.

In Portland it's incredible, and I don't miss driving a bit.

Not quite sure. I know there's a bus terminal in uptown Charlotte. No subways or anything like that though.

EDIT: Get ready for some decent concerts in Charlotte this summer.

Being a Virginia resident all my life I've been to NC at least 3 times a year. My families beach vacation spot is in southern NC on the border near Myrtle Beach. The weather is amazing but it's humid and summertime brings many tropical storms and hurricanes. I've been in quite a few hurricanes while just on vacation. Anyways... my cousins live in Charlotte and it's a pretty bustling city to live in. My brother is currently looking for a job there in finance.

So yeah, you'll be in a warm southern city during summertime and you want to know what to do outside of work? I can tell you from experience that the bars will be full of women with minute amounts of clothes on and be willing to drive to the beach to have fun. NC beaches are fantastic (though don't expect big waves outside of a week that a hurricane is coming on) and depending on where you go, desolate. The mountains there are gorgeous. Our west coast rocky mountain t3d'ers may hate on the Blue Ridge Mountain's for being so small but that's only because they were some of the first to ever form on earth. The rock formations and natural beauty in the mountains here on the east coast are unbelievable.

So yeah.. I know we've talked of meeting before Bigrichard, but if I'm visiting my cousins this summer I'll let you know so we can hit up some night life down there.

As much as I'd love to go bar hopping/clubbing, I'm not 21 yet. I could bring my fake I suppose, but it's beyond terrible.

I'm always down for getting together, though.
