Lean pockets are where it's at. If it weren't for such a high sodium count you could almost call them healthy!

trust me, you don't want that food. The nutritional ratios aren't good. They do have plenty calories, but those meals are intended to be eaten in times where you will go long periods w/o eating. Why screw your body up and go against all of your fitness goals you have spent time on, all over some paranoia?

Sure, the price of some products are bound to go up due to higher gas and weather events in certain areas of production, but that has always existed. It is just at a higher rate right now.

I suspect the evil Dr. Claw who is sitting in his chair, never revealing to us what his face looks like, and petting his laughing cat while looking at us on the monitors while laughing.

It's not so much the raise in food prices that concerns me. It's the rate at which it is
climbing, coupled with rising unemployment and fuel prices. you add those stresses to a society and rioting, chaos and violence is always a possibility.

I'm not saying you are not in a shitty situation regarding unemployment and raising costs of living, if anything I can relate, but, you need to chill on your paranoia and doomsday outlooks on everything. You have every right to be pissed at the shittyness in this world, but, you will do nothing but make people avoid you if you keep coming off like a paranoid buzz killer.

Things are cyclical, and when better times revolve around for you, and you get time to take a deep breath, you will probably look back at your memories of now and see that you are overdoing the paranoia and doom and gloom just a tad.

From what I understand the rise in food prices is pretty much worldwide, so you can unpack your suitcase.

I may sound paranoid. Probably because this shit is hitting me square in the face. You may sound condescending because it hasn't hit you. Have you checked your preparedness in case it does? Because I'll tell you what, it happens overnight.

what hasn't hit me? unemployment? nope..it hit me 2 weeks ago. family tragedy? nope...it hit me just last month -- when I was finding out about my job situation, they found a cancerous tumor in my mom's brain that had to be removed ASAP. She has had the surgery, and is on her path to recovery and good ol' chemo and radiation treatment, but to say that the situation didn't hit me square in the face hit me like a ton of bricks. I didn't give a flying fuck about my job situation a few weeks ago b/c I was too worried about losing my mother, who I am very close to as well as her being a major grounding factor in my life.

I've also had a major monkey wrench thrown into my life a few years back when Hurricane Katrina hit. Sure, I didn't own a house that went completely under water, but I still lost my job, got forced into a living situation that was extremely stressfull to me, and had my plans of moving into a place with a group of close friends totally nixed due to them having to move away and losing jobs as well. You know what? That situation got better over time.

edit: I'd like to add one cliche' comment to this: it is how we deal with the adversity in life that defines us. Keeping up with the Jonse's or showing off stupid fucking toys/possessions one owns in good times/times of success doesn't define shit, and shouldn't be valued.

So you know what i'm talking about. As for looking paranoid and adding worry of being advoided by peers to the mix, you definately have me confused with someone who cares. You got your job back, all indications are that I won't. Though, retraining may become an option....time will tell. You were able to see your mom get into surgery for cancer. When the extent of mine is revealed, I won't be able to afford to get right into surgery. Shit, the crappy health insurance I have puts me at a low priority to get in to see the doctor as is. Waits are a month out. OK, this isn't a pissing comntest. My point is that at a certain point, even the most optimistic of people have a hard time thinking things may get better. I hope the hell I'm wrong, I really do.[analogy]But I see a boat with a gaping hole in the hull, I'm telling the people who can't swim, that they better learn how. The boat may make it into port, but it's a long way and the boat is slowing down.[/analogy]
You're right about life being what you make of it. It's not so much what happens to a person, as much as it is what the person does with what happens to them. It wasn't the one's who lost just the luxuries, or the one's that jumped to thier death at the onset of the great depression, that showed what the people of this great country are made of. it's the one's that lost it all and had to scratch out an existence from nothing, that made the difference. Oh, and I'm sure there were the paranoid types sounding a warning before the great depression hit too. paranoid? maybe. prepared? definately. Right now, that glass looks to be half empty and it isn't the top half. I do appologize for bringing into lots of subjects, a downer note. It does not mean that I'm not living in some sort of sollution.

I got a job after a period of unemployment after Katrina. But, I also just got laid off 2 weeks ago and I still don't have a new job. So I didn't "get my job back".

yep...you're definitely battling with some depression. To each their own. I wish you the best. I'm not being sarcastic by that either. I hope things get better for you and you get over your mental slump.

It's hard to compare your situation with Wiskas. You're young with good health and lots of options. He's got a wife too, which is a massive barnacle on the ship of life.
