I am going to take stillshots of my cousin's dvd after I get it from him. I just snapped a few pics w/ my camera b/c I had to preserve space on the mem card to take important pics for insurance claim purpopses. Here are a few cool ones:

backyard

more backyard:

siding:

storage place got torn up:

poles allmost crushed houses:

I don't think my parent's shoes are still good:

Based on the waterline, I would guess we got about 2-3 inches of water in the house, which means we need new floors, baseboards, and 1/2 of the sheetrock/insulation in 75% of the first floor of the house.

As I said last time, I am truly glad you had the good sense to get away, and hope you and yours get back on your feet as soon as it's humanly possible.

That damage is a piece of cake to repair. You lucked out in a big way.
I've repaired damage worse than that from a BBQ being too close to the walls.

yeah...the wind damage was very random. It depended on a few factors:

-if part of your house/property was in an open area where the wind could get to (see fence for example).
-if spinoff tornadoes were in the area.
-the positioning of trees in/around your property.

Overall, even though the house faired well, the impact of the storm is still going to be felt in an indirect way. The local economy will be damaged and jobs/work will suffer..I don't know when I'm going back to work yet. Many people are looking for jobs where they are temporarily relocated and I may just do the same.

Anything that the water touched will have to be replaced - carpet, drywall, floorboards, etc. Otherwise you end up with mold and smell for years and years.

If I were you I'd use the opportunity to move out of the South. Glad you were smart enough to leave for the storm.

yeah, we will need new floors in the dining room, den, and parent's bedroom. We will also need to replace the bottom part of the sheetrock/insulation in the afffected areas.

and yes, it stunk in the 1st floor, but not as bad as when my dad went home 1 week after the storm.
