Yeah, it's watermarked with your name and email address.

I mean sure it makes sense to track who uploaded it to a filesharing site, but its still not 100% kosher.

I'm not surprised at all. But I don't give a shit because A) I don't buy music from Apple, and B) if I did I wouldn't upload it to torrent.

But, they did do what they promised. You can use this on ANY player that'll play MP3. How can you complain? I'm not upset, and I do believe that it's a fine alternative to DRM.

And anyway, you probably can remove this junk. It's not like in the actual audio, it's just some text somewhere in the file.

It's only a bad thing in that the practice was snuck in on people without their knowledge. It only affects people that share the material....which is a no-no.

The person who purchased it may not be pirating but I can see how a kid can borrow music from a parent (shared PC or ipod) and then share that folder on limewire or something along those lines...I have a client that shares Apple-purchased music with her family so I can see it potentially impacting some of the population, just not everyone.

Again as long as you don't have file sharing software you shouldn't have to worry about anything...

However, if one were to say have their security breached and someone stole a music file, if thats even very likely at all, then you have just had your email address stolen.

Then again, when does your email address not get shared?

Really, if your not doing anything illegal, you aint got shit to worry about.

It's more of the ideology behind it. They're offering music free of restrictions but turn around and stamp your name on it. Plus there's the concern of someone getting your track and uploading it with your name on it.
