The guy handed Michael a poem that he had written. I guess he was about 25-28 yrs old. It's not sad - but think about it next time you see someone stuck in the streets with nowhere to go.

Code:
Now this might be a heavy task
But please just listen well
Although I loved you like my breath
I put your life through hell
I'm not asking to pull your teeth
Or one arm or one leg
What I'm asking for is forgiveness
But please don't make me beg
I've been through so much already
You really don't know the half of it
My uncle's abuse I suffered
My parents divorced at ten
Then my aunts suffered with cancer
Just when I needed a friend
Please forgive me before I die
I need my sanity
Because I love you like my breath
I just need to be free

It's not rape, it's surprise sex.

"It is good that war is terrible, otherwise we would become over fond of it." - Robert E. Lee.

"You know, I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe."

who's to say that homeless guy isnt making that entire thing up? I feel there are plenty of ways to get your life back together. Yes im sure they have been through hell, but that doesnt mean they cant attempt to get a job and find a place to live.

I was just saying that I wondered if he wrote it. Someone could have given it to him, say a friend, social worker, etc.

It was handwritten and it took 3 people to translate his scribbled handwriting. They have the envelope that he wrote it on.

Honestly. I dont trust homeless people. Ive talked to ones that have turned around, and they said one of the last things they truely needed was money, he couldnt help himself from buying crack.

In that case, that's pretty cool. To immediately doubt him capable is pretty jaded I guess...

I don't trust homeless people. I gave this guy a hamburger and fries and a soda, to find out later that day he had a truck

I know some guys that stand on exit ramps around Cincy...come to find out someone I know knew these guys and said they typically make more money doing that than at their real job.

One example: I saw a one legged guy at the exit near my job. Three hours later I saw him standing at a different exit 30 miles away. I'll go out on a limb and guess that he didn't walk there.

I NEVER give homeless people money. To me it just encourages them to peddle / beg, when there are social services available that we're all paying for anyway. Plus I give to charity. I would think the percentage of beggars that spend the money on booze and drugs is pretty high.

Yeah, when I go up to Cleveland for shows, I always get harassed by homeless people.

They're insane, really. A guy came up to me once and was saying "Man! its been so long! you have lost so much weight by good friend", but I kept walking pretending he wasnt there, and he put his arm around me, so i kinda pushed it off, and he goes "listen buddy my car broke down i need a dollar for the bus" but I just kept walking and ignored him. Stuff like this has happened so many times, its just an uncomfortable situation to be in.

There are professional pan handlers that actually make like 90k a year.

It doesn't bother me to let go of a few bucks - I honestly don't care what they use it for.

I used to think like that too, but the thing is, if they know you'll give away money so easily, they'll come back, and they don't always come back ASKING for it.

My brother happens to do alot of travelling, train hopping, etc and when he gets to a new city or state he has no choice but to ask for a little help before he finds work. So, when I see a homeless person, or a traveller I give a little. My brother has been train-hopping since he was 15 - and yes he works. But he also has hit a alot of hard times. I suppose that is the life he chose and he doesn't expect anyone to enable his lifestyle, he can definitely fend for himself.

I guess the only homeless people I can really trust are those who go by the group "Homeless Voice". They usually collect money at major intersections around Miami. I know they're legit because they pass out flyers and they can be trusted to put the money to good use. I really feel bad when I stop at a light that they're collecting and I have no spare change to give. I always look for it when they do.
