I'm gonna do dualies on the comp, as well as buy a new video card.

I'm looking for a new 19inch and an ATI card.

what do you guys recommend? Budget= roughly $650-700

Why an ATI card? There's virtually no good reason to buy ATI over Nvidia that I know of...

X1900 is faster than Nvidia's current offering. If you want to spend balls to the wall, then ATI is the choice. 2D and video performance is better on an ATI, but if this is for a gaming rig, then Nvidia is the boat to be in.

See, I had read some stuff in Maximum PC about the video performance of the latest ATI cards and was turned off by it. Supposedly they've fixed some of the issues with the latest round of drivers though.

I have an X600 at work and a 9800XT at home and DVDs look gorgeous. CPU usage is way low with ATI cards comparitively as well. I am assuming he is building a gaming rig, so he'll definitely want an Nvidia.

Well, I currently have an ATI and I've had zero problems with it, but it's not a problem to make the second card an Nvidia.

So far the only rec. has been Scooby's, can I get a second opinion?

Dual monitors? You say "I'm gonna do dualies" but then that you are only looking for a graphics card and one monitor. Do you want to do dual LCDs at some point?

i think he already has a monitor and the monitor he has now he is gonna use as his second monitor, maybe next time he should post in the right section.
