Can anyone suggest a USB control pad for playing MAME32? I've got a Logitech Dual Action gamepad and it doesn't work worth a shit on MAME.

Damn really? I was thinking about picking that one up too. Right now I'm using the standard logitech gamepad pro (usb) and while it works great it's getting a little old.

How about trying one of those console to pc gamepad adapters?

What sort of games are you playing?

I picked up that same controller at Target and it sucks.

All I see is a black hole, and sooner or later they’re going to suck each one of us into it. But when they come for me, I'm going to take as many of them with me as I can.

Just about the only games I play at this point are either MAME, or Genesis / SNES roms. And that Logitech Dual Action doesn't work worth a shit! I've got an old Microsoft Sidewinder game pad, but it has a gameport interface which my current PC doesn't have. I tried one of those gameport to USB adapters and it didn't work. I swear I'm just about ready to buy another one of these:

For MAME? It works fine for everything else. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes it will stop working. Is there a trick to it?

I've got that same controller but without the analog sticks and i fucking love it, I only play nes and snes and since it has 4 shoulder buttons i use one of them to speed up gameplay which is fucking raddddd. I leveled up to 99 on FFVI in about an hour and a half

The analog sticks are the problem I think. I can't figure a way to assign the x&y axis to the d-pad. And mapping the keyboard arrow keys to it doesn't work worth a shit on games like Street Fighter.

But yeah Torx, they still make the X-Arcade. The only sell the double unit now, but they dropped the price to $129. And for $99 you can get one of these bad boys:
