My toilet was broken. I don't know what the part is, but it's the regulator valve that the floater connects to. Once the upper tank is full, the floater raises and closes this valve, thus preventing the upper tank from over-flowing.

That's it, it's still broken, but it's not filling, therefore not leaking. Thankfully the crack was after the valve closeoff. Too bad it was on the seam.

It's a blurry pic, because i was trying digi macro. But oh well, the other one was too high contrast. The three whitish lines are water spewing out. They were shooting directly at where the handle goes through the ceramic and leaking out of that. That's how i noticed the leak.

Teflon Tape Time

A job well done if I do say so myself. I'd refer to my handy-work as somewhat "rigged." Of course I'm leaving out word most commnly attached to rigged, but it is used when referring to a poorly done job. (We have enough racist threads, we don't need to raise eyebrow to this statement, even though I am totally bringing it up un-provoked. I hope everyone can see that I'm being satirical). Oh well, took about 20 minutes. Glad I had the initiative to fix this.

Being Politically Correct is kinda lame.

a new ballcock is like $12. And they're pretty to install (even for a novice) but if you needed assistance, I'm a plumber...

I've built a toilet before, I think I could easily handle it. This was just a temp fix until I get paid or tell my mom about it and she buys the parts. Thankfully teflon tape was in stock at the Tyler residence. Otherwise i might have used electrical tape :X

I hope this thread doesn't die due to lack of interest. I really think it's a better quality thread than a lot of the current threads. Though, I haven't really read up tonight, I just jumped on and posted this. I hope something new is up.

first. I gotta go take a shit on my fixed toilet.

oh and just as an FYI, try not to use white teflon tape, its pretty cheap stuff. Pink tape is the best stuff to use on general stuff.
