I used to do that, honestly. There was a bank literally next door to where I lived in Florida and was the most convenient means of money access. They didn't have a walk up ATM, only the drive through kind.

By the way, I saw on the news tonight a story about a blind baseball team. Apparantly there is an active league throughout the country. Some differences are that the pitching mound is much closer, the pitcher and the batter are on the same team, the ball is half the size of my head and makes noise as it goes through the air, and each base is mounted with a sound device so they know where they are running.

ADA compliance is getting extreem. Most specs have a reason, some are just....well, extreem. It all goes hand-in-hand with PC. The worst thing about doing commercial construction is all the ADA requirements. I kind of like it though.....giving an easier existence to those that have it harder. I had to move a bathroom wall (after completion) to gain 1/4 inch for the 5' turn around space in an ADA compliant bathroom when final inspection was done. When ADA compliance states a "minimum" 5' square, it doesn't mean 59 3/4" X 60", it means 60" X 60" minimum. The existing exterior wall was framed with 2X8's, so I removed the two layers of drywall and took my sawzall and shaved a 1/2"
off of the studs. three days later, the inspector signed off on the final and said " I'm not even going to ask how you mamaged to gain the required 1/4 inch.....good work". I got that whole $175,000.00 remodel done with 20 minutes to spare before the deadline elapsed.
The bottom line is that every ADA requirement has a reaon, and I've learned to not question them.

I don't know whan the ADA came to pass but in '87 I had to put up a bunch of handicap parking signs at a commercial remod job I was on. The last one was one sided as the store only req. 7 spaces. I stick tthis this sign in the pavement and go to the trailer to get more cement to hold it in place. When I come back Junior Officer OB is at my scoot writing me up! As my bike is on the back side of the sign and I have the site map I'm in the clear. OB won't tear up the ticket So I buy a camera, get pics and head to the police station. I talk to the head cheese, get my ticket torn up and a promise that OB will be talked to about his enthusiasm. When I leave there's Officer OB writing me up again in the parking lot of the P.D. for defective equipment. My scoot had straitpipes!
