He should have said this long ago. But let's remember - the intelligence communities of many nations believed there were weapons. Until a vast, global conspiracy is revealed I think he did the right thing under the circumstances.

Many nations believed it because we told them!

We told them, but they came to the conclusion on their own too. To say we could manipulate countries who opposed us such as Russia or Germany is pretty naive.

So, again, given what most of the world powers believed, what should he have done?

Gee, you think? I'm not disputing this is a step in the right direction, but MSP is completely on the ball - this should have come a while ago.

I don't agree with the war or the intelegence or any of that, and I don't like Bush, but he just raised himself one little bar by admiting this.

as far as i see it, it should lower a bar, he misled us from the start, so now we have over 2,000 soldiers dead because he got "wrong" intelligence. We will have troops in iraq until at least 2010.

No one has ever answered my question. Not in this thread or any of the others.

Given what most of the world powers believed about Iraq and WMDs, what should he have done?

Honestly, I'd love to how we should have handled a guy we thought had bio-weapons and was working on nukes. Hindsight is 20/20...
