I am suprised no one has made a thread about this but after tonights primaries in Indiana and North Carolina Obama only needs about 182 delegates (pledged and super combined) to get to the magic number of 2025 delegates and Clinton needs 325.

Everyone who has played with the delegate math the past month or so knew Hilary didn't have a chance in hell of clinching the nomination but tonights primaries just puts another nail in the coffin in her campaign. It is refreshing that this will not go to the convention. It is also nice to see that the whole Wright thing the past week didn't really fuck anything up for Obama, it was just another fabrication from the media and no one really cared (well, except for MSP *).

Just so people don't think I am making shit up, here are some little tidbits from the media:
DRUDGE REPORT 2008®

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lklfIPBK4Zg

Also, it was said on CNN that Hilary has canceled ALL her media and public appearances for tomorrow.

Also a few of Hilary's supporters have told her to step down:

http://www.americablog.com/2008/05/...dly-called.html

Quote:
We've just been told that General Wesley Clark, a strong Clinton supporter and fellow Arkansan, called Hillary tonight to tell her it's over.

In addition to our source, the king of the pundits, Mark Halperin, drops a tantalizing hint that something might be up with Clark:

"The biggest question: Will any of her supporters (including Wes Clark) say publicly or privately she should quit?"

We like General Clark here at AMERICAblog, and have a bit of a history with him. So we hope what we're hearing is true. But the general better watch it - this could be his most dangerous mission to date. When you take on the Clintons, the sniper fire is real.

It's still a coin toss no matter if Clinton or Obamma gets the nod. Still only have the repubs and dems to decide between. Obamma may just be our next Presidente' for sure. i don't think it's really going to matter. The thing the media does is stir up shit and excite the masses, in the end, it's always going to be biz as usual.

Hillary isn't backing down, anybody hear her speech? She's fighting on, although at this point I'm not sure why. Ultimately Obama will be the nominee. And according to polls from South Carolina and Indiana almost half of Hillary's supporters say they will vote for McCain if Obama is the nominee. So far my predictions, decried as "wishful thinking", are absolutely coming true.

So it's official: Obama IS the lesser of two evils.

As a republican it's still great to see the "Clinton Machine" going down swinging. Even now after all this she is too stubborn to quit. It has been said before i'm sure, but I am enjoying sitting back and laughing at this whole situation.

Had she won big in Indiana and had a close race in South Carolina she might have had some ground to stand on. But she was trounced in South Carolina and only eeked by in Indiana. She's beaten unless she has some secret weapon we don't know about. The Dem superdelegates can't afford to turn their back on Obama. He's won the popular vote, has the most delegates, and is a black man. If they were to pull some dirty back room deal and nominate Clinton the party would completely fly apart, and we'd probably have riots.

I don't understand this thinking. Its like saying "Well shit, if I don't get my flavor of ice-cream, I'm going to shoot myself in the foot!"

Yah, that's going to help things.

It doesn't make sense at all, but that's what they've been saying. Whether or not it's a representative sample, or whether they'll actually go through with it come November? Hard to say. I think it's at least partially about race and Wright. As with Pennsylvania the vote yesterday was very much along racial lines.

I think Obama will be the nominee but he won't be president. America isn't ready for that even without the Wright controversy. McCain will be our next pres because whites will run away from Obama like he is The Black Plague. Am I being racist? Look at the polling results most Blacks voted Black and most Whites voted White. This trend will continue that's fo sho!

I don't buy that argument. Sure there are racist jerkoffs, but those people aren't likely to vote democratic anyway. They would tend to be in the ultra-conservative camp. Obama won't get elected because he has no experience. He is a junior senator from Illinois with a weak platform, his ethnicity will have very little to do with why he won't win.

I did exaggerate a little but race does matter. You are right Obama doesn't have the experience of a senior Senator and that goes against him. Also the numbers don't lie, Clinton get's the majority of the White vote while Obama get's the majority of the Black vote.

I'm not saying that if you are white and vote for McCain you are racist no more than if you are black and vote for Obama you are racist. With McCain you know what you are getting but with Obama who knows what we will get. Many blacks are supporting Obama because this has never happened before and are excited about the prospect of the first African American to get this far in a presidential race. Even if Obama doesn't become president he's done something no one else has and that's very exciting. Could a woman or Black man become president? Yes, but I don't think it will be anytime soon. Wish I was wrong but my gutt tells me MSP is right and we are all doomed! lol

To me what Clinton is doing doesn't make any sense. I see no chance of her getting the nomination or winning, and she's fracturing the party and ruining their chances in the general election. It would be better for her to bow out graciously, and throw her hat back in the ring in 2012. As it is right now I can't help but imagine that she's burning bridges amongst the Democrats for fighting what appears to be a hopeless fight.

Woot, now he only needs 178 delegates. The supers just keep on rolling towards Obama.

Also, on drudge report front page:

LMFAO the latest obama girl video is pretty funny. It stars Mike Gravel:

Now I get it. I just heard that Clinton is still fighting to get the Michigan and Florida votes counted. If you count those she's winning the popular vote and delegate counts. Even though to be fair, Obama wasn't even on the ballots in Michigan. But either way it doesn't look like she's going anywhere anytime soon. It's a hopeless battle, but at least I understand why she isn't folding.

I am not sure where you heard this but it is not true. At this point even with FL and MI counted Obama is now leading so far that he would still be ahead in popular and delegate counts. Thats why last night was so huge for him. Shes just grasping at imaginary straws at this point.
