Canada has lots of national resources, but why on Earth would we financially align ourselves with the corrupt armpit that is most of Mexico? Honestly, aren't we already using the parts that suit us? Cheap labor and tequila... |

Hell man, Sweeden already went there. EU open borders has enabled the mass migration of god knows how many eastern Europeans towards the west of the continent. England has been absolutely swamped with Poles in the last 2 years. |

I've been vaguely following this and I have two words to say: Absofuckinglutely not. There are people here who are still not over the effects of NAFTA and that supposed version of 'free' trade. Additionally, Canadians are extremely sensitive about sovereignty, especially Quebecers and Albertans. With the snowballing cluster fuck that we know as the United States Government there are few people who warmly think of closer relations between the countries. Harper is pushing such an agenda, which know he is eager to do as he fellates American conservatism and styles of government at every turn (think fixed election dates, elected senate, etc). Such a move would form a titanic amount of pressure that crush the conservative minority government. That's if they don't have any more serious screw ups in the first place. Perhaps the even more important political implication is that this is being done under the guise of 'security'. Most people don't even understand what the fuck security is. Rather than going to the etymological origins or metaphysical implications of the word here, I will say this: beware of what governments do under the guise of increasing 'security' for you. In the United States right now, the government can and has pluck you from anywhere in the country and ship to you off to a prison where you will be detained indefinitely and will most likely tortured. The only thing they need to do is declare you a suspected terrorist. I think few people comprehend the magnitude of the various problems associated with that. In the news a few weeks ago there was an uproar over the implementation of warrantless wiretapping in Zimbabwe. Mugabe defended the law by saying America has the exact same thing. That's right, your country is implementing the same laws as African dictators, the same people who are accused of war crimes and will most likely end up in a cell at the Hague. The point is, if you don't see a trend you're fucking blind. Statistically, I have a higher chance of dying from prostate cancer than terrorism. Fuck your security. Besides the political implications, economic considerations also make it a bad idea. American exceptionalism has burned us hard in the past, especially over issues like softwood lumber. Our economy has strong growth and shrinking debt. Trade patterns are growing in other areas than the U.S., especially with their shrinking dollar (a weak American dollar means they buy less from us). Finally, logistically its far cheaper to ship our goods on cargo ships to the orient, specifically China, than it is to load up container trucks in Toronto and drive them to Texas. /rant |

First time I ever heard about this was in that zeitgeist movie. I do not want this. I'll vote for whoever most aggresively opposes it, for whatever good it'll do. |

I for one do not believe this whole thing is going to happen, most of it sounds like right-wing conspiracy theorists.... Maybe I'm wrong. |

How can it be a conspiracy if it's in the works? |

The talk I've heard about it is mostly from wackos who base their information on rumors on the internet. I have no doubts there is a program of sorts in the works, but I do not believe it is coming as soon as that link claims, nor that it will be as major a program. |

"We're talking about opportunity here. Nobody arguing for more upward mobility and help for the poor believes that every single poor person will be helped in a single generation, if ever. I think that most of us are looking for programs and ideas that serve to help people who want the help and have the drive to get themselves out of poverty. We're looking at potential ideas to create equal access, not equality."

This makes a one world gov. so much easier. Uniting each continent separately would be easier and less obvious to get to the means. |

Dont mess with old school

I wouldn't mind being open with mexico if they actually had a government that took care of their people but as it stands its just a way to rape us of our good fortune and lower the quality of life for those that are here. Canada has a government that cares about its people and its quality of living is equal to ours, therefore no mass migration and no raping of our resources. (the polish migration into GB is a great example of what I'm talking about). |
