Well, I lived through the new years eve bash of NYC... That was definately worth going to. I'm tired as hell, as I've been up all night. We ended up taking a bus ride to Times Square from the base. We left around noon on New Years Eve, arrived in NYC about 2:45 PM. We were dropped off a few blocks South of Times Square. We walked north to the Rockefeller Center (about 52nd and 6th avenue, if I remember right in Manhattan).

Along the way, we found this cool showflake hanging over the street. Just took a pic cause we thought it was cool.

This pic is of my wife in front of the big Christmas Tree in the Rockefeller Center complex.

This pic is of the ice skating rink in the Rockefeller complex. Just thought it was a cool picture.

This pic is of a design made with crystals hanging from strings. It looked much more impressive in person.

A pic looking outside the rockefeller center at the Radio City Music Hall, the theater for the Rockets.

Cool view from the 66th floor of the Rockefeller Center. I think this was looking East from the building, but I can't remember....

This was looking from the next side of the building at the Empire State Building. Once again, very impressive in real life.

Pic of me standing in front of the glass, to compare to the Empire State Building.

Another view from the observation deck in the Rockefeller Center.

A few pics of the Wife and I eating at an Italian place in Little Italy. Awesome food, decent prices, and great service. The tables were packed in the restaraunt like sardines, though.

A pic of the Wife and I standing in front of Times Square. We were about 48th and 7th Avenue Here, about 2 blocks away from where the ball was dropped.

Pic of the GIANT Cup O' Noodles. I loved that, as it has a constant supply of steam rising from the top of it. It's kinda hard to see in the pic, though.

Another pic of my wife and I, trying to stand the cold.... It was literally standing room only, with people pushing from all sides. We were allowed to move up in what ended as a riot of people flooding, trying to get closer to the ball drop.

Pics of the ads. This was about 47th and 7th avenue. Just thought they looked cool.

More ads....

A pic of the ball above 1 Times Square. I couldn't get a decent picture for the life of me.... What's kinda funny is that the ball in real life is REALLY small... I had to zoom in nearly 10x to get this picture from less than a block away.

More pics of my wife and I, as the crowd thinned. We arrived around 6:00PM, and people left about 8:00PM as they got cold. We stuck it out, and it paid off in how much room we had.

Another pic of the ball.

A pic of the confetti that was falling. This was before Midnight, and it got much worse.

Pic of exactly when the ball hit bottom. This was when all hell broke loose.

More Fireworks and confetti

More confetti falling

More craziness

Pics of Broadway Theater shows I had just noticed. I got a kick out of 'em.

Fireworks from up above us.

More fireworks behind us.

I finally got a decent pic of how much confetti there was....

Pics of the Wife and I right after the chaos subdued. To sum it up, we got one hell of a show while we waited. We got live performances from POD, Puddle of Mud, OK GO, some spanish band, a hip hop band, Mariah Carey, and a few others. We had Regis Philbin, Dick Clark, the Mayor, Jimmie Kinnel, and a few other celebrities on hand I can't remember... It was one hell of a night. Also, it's late, so if the pics are screwed up, please wait til morning. I'll take care of it then, as the wife is begging me to come to bed. Hehehehehehe... Also, hope everyone else had a safe and fund New Years!

Was it just the two of you? Im just asking because of the shot of the two of you in timesquare, and the fact you would trust someone with your digital camera in NY

All I see is a black hole, and sooner or later they’re going to suck each one of us into it. But when they come for me, I'm going to take as many of them with me as I can.

Yeah, we found a few trustworthy people. I also have a really long lanyard on my phone, and had it tied off to my wrist. Kinda made the people taking the pics feel wierd, as they couldn't take them far away. I didn't care, though, as I wasn't letting go of my new toy.

Yeah, looking back, it was a blast. I am ecstatic that I got to experience it once, but I'm not sure that I want to fight the crowds again. We stood for probably 2-3 hours with people pushing from all sides, without even enough room to get out of the crowds. There were fights breaking out left and right, but cops were EVERYWHERE to keep things under control. I also got some weight to throw around by flashing my military ID, so people left me alone and trusted me for the most part. I even got asked to take pictures of a bunch of couples, because they knew they thought they could trust military.
