| My E-Penis Is HUGE | OK so my Dell W2600 is getting the dreaded power problem (TV won't turn on after I turn it off) The damn thing is only two years old this December and has given me nothing but headaches. The screen is getting darker and not as rich as it use to be and Dell doesn't seem to care (Offering me a refurbished W2600) So I have had my eye on this TV anyone have any experience with it? Now does HDMI support sound also? Last edited by Scrubbin_Bubbles; 11-05-2007 at 01:02 PM.. |
| All I see is a black hole, and sooner or later they’re going to suck each one of us into it. But when they come for me, I'm going to take as many of them with me as I can. | |

| Curmudgeon | So far as I know, yes HDMI carries sound & video data. From what I'm understand the quality on sets <42" that have 1080p don't really justify the extra cost. 720P should do you fine. Last edited by smirnoff; 11-05-2007 at 01:14 PM.. |

| Paw? | Yes, HDMI carries both. I don't have an eagle eye or anything but 1080p picture on my PS3 and 360 looks superb. I'm running the LVM-37w3se (Westinghouse 37" LCD TV) . Good stuff... |

| Paw? | I honestly haven't taken the time to test out 720p on my display. I've switched to it for a short period of time on the 360 dashboard but never on gameplay. I've the Wii on 480p via component. My DirecTV box is hooked up through S-Video @ 480i (that's blurry). X360 @ 1080p via VGA. PS3 @ 1080p via HDMI |

| Raptor Jesus | So I'm guessing 2 years old meaning out of warranty? And Dell is offering you a refurb for free? Do it! |

| Lord Of Porn | if it only has a 1 yr warranty then dell shouldn't give two shits about your monitor. if its a 2yr then they should. |

| El Chupacabra | I am not a big fan of LCD sets. I have a DLP and I am never looking back, |

| Resident Cynic | Seems silly to me to pay 400 extra dollars for 1080p on a 32" set. Do you plan on watching it up really close, or from a moderate distance? I can notice a little bit of fuzziness if I'm sitting like a foot from my TV, but if I pull away it's crystal clear at 720p. If you're planing on a 42inch set or bigger I'd go with 1080p. Also, make sure you do your best to calibrate your set. I have a friend who just bought a house and it came with SONY LCD's in all the rooms, but he has them set up so poorly that they just look like pure shit. You'd think he had everything plugged in through composite cables. His living room TV doesn't even have a progressive scan DVD player so everything is grainy. I always rag him on it, but he just says I care too much. I think he's just never seen how it should look. |

| Paw? | Agreed. If you're going LCD, make sure you calibrate it good. LCDs can make anything look too bright and washed out on default settings, even presets. |

OLED price per inch vs. DLP price per inch....gimme DLP. You do know that nearly every hi-def set known to man requires bulb changes right? Either that, or your panel just dies. | |

| Raptor Jesus | I read some reviews on the TV you currently have, Scrubbin. Looks like it has some really bad issues. Reds are washed out, really dark picture, power issues, etc. This may seem shady, but get the refurb from Dell, and eBay the sucker in the box. That will help you pay for a new TV and you'll probably net a little more than just selling it as-is. |

| Keeper of the Timeline | Fuckin crappy ass Dell.. now I guess it's your last Dell screen But if they offer a refurb, take it and then sell it!!! About the Sharp, well, I just don't like Sharp products. But spec-wise, its seems to be a good TV to me! |

| Raptor Jesus | i'm a really big fan of Samsung. Anything I've ever owned by Samsung, whether it be a phone, LCD monitor, computer accessories, have always been top notch. I just know their TVs are a little pricey. |

| Lord Of Porn | the bulb replacement thing on DLP's is going to be a thing of the past. the newer samsung sets use LED's for the lamp and those last forever (around 20,000hours). |
