I'm just going to quote this from my blog thing....

Quote:
I'm honestly considering leaving college for the Navy.

The college lifestyle disgusts me. Drink, drink, random sex, drink, drink. I thought that I'd be surrounded by people who were my peers. I was wrong.

I have found no purpose in college. I have learned little (even in life experiences). I find myself envious of people who are doing things with their life besides school.

I want change. I want to do something important. Or something at all. Anything but sitting here and reading about useless things. I'm twenty years old now. I want to start living life now, not later.

Man, I've got to think some more.
Opinions? Experiences? Also, I've been in college for two years now and almost have my AA (need two classes).

I decided Navy > *
And, honestly I couldn't say I made a bad decision.

You should consider joining clubs and societies. I would expect any college to get boring if you just go to class and do nothing else. Consider joining different things and trying new stuff. You'll meet some cool people and feel more productive. I can't really say that I've done this but my girlfriend has been involved in a lot of activities at FIU. She takes me to a lot of them and participating by itself is rewarding. think about it.

I'm at a CC and will get my AA by mid summer. Then I'll go into a University and I can't say I regret my decisions nor doing what I'm doing. Grantes, school is not for everybody, but I think that it depends on how you "live" it. I don't go party like crazy nor do the traditional "college party animal" stuff. I have fun with friends, go out all weekends, work, yet I'm doing good at school. it is just setting your mind to do well at school I guess.
However, if you think you are not getting anything from school, complete your AA and off to the Navy you go. Being two classes short, it is pointless to throw it away, and then you can go to what you think will make you feel good. (if anything, you just have some extra time to think about it).

You're the real thing,
Even better than the real thing.

My Navy friends drink harder and fuck more random chicks than any of my college friends. I grew up in a navy town and those fuckers can party.
Maybe you just need a different circle of people to hang out with to change your mind a bit.

I hope you die

Yeah, I'm a member of a club or two, and I'm just tired of it. College hasn't been the experience I thought it'd be.

Get the piece of paper, which is the real point of college. It's not what you learn, it's the paper. And THEN go into the Navy. I think you'd start at a higher pay grade too.

Go for it man! Why the Navy though? Have you thought Air Force, Marines, Army? Do you want to GET in the shit, or do you want to travel or what?

As people have said, college is not for everyone, but if that is your college experience, it is up to you to change it for the better. Not everyone is like that, find some new friends, events, places to hang out at. College is what you make it. With that said, if its just not working, maybe its better you do something else. If you are that close to an AA you would be a fool to not finish it though.

That is true. Finish what you need to at school, then decide to join.

Yeah, I'm actually thinking about finishing up my AA at a Community College at home then transferring to a nearby school to do their NROTC.

I'd say, get your AA, then decide. NROTC is a great idea.

Say goodbye to our beloved planet. Because there is
alot more money to be made in emitting greenhouse
gasses, than curtailing emissions.

Get out of the box, then recycle it.

Thanks. This isn't a spur of the moment thing, in the fastest scenarion I'd be going in the Navy in a year or so (if I enlisted compared to NROTC).
