So you all probably saw the general map of my route in the other thread, but here it is again:

So Here They Be:

I left Seattle around noon on Sunday, with a VERY full car. Add this to the list of reasons I bought a 4Runner. I had my computer with dual monitors, my whole car stereo (getting it installed in NY, brought it all the way over), food, a semesters worth of cloths, tons of footwear, skis, sleeping bags, food and more.

Me at departure.

Not to be confused with the last road trip I went on (those pictures crack me up)

At the top of Snoqualmie Pass an hour east of Seattle, it has begun!

Heading down into eastern Washington.

Eastern Washington, I really like this picture.

This is how I slept at night when I was in my car. Add that one to the list of reasons I got a 4Runner also Note the stuff in the front seats.

Because they were both packed!

Where I slept the first night, 20 miles into Montana.

Cool rock formations at a rest stop in Montana.

Heading for another mountain pass, Montana.

And say good bye to the mountains, because they are gone.

Hit 1000 miles, somewhere in Montana.

Driving under the moon.

Spent the next night in North Dakota, which at 15 miles in from Montana looked much more interesting then I expected it would.

Then I got another mile or two in. Multiply this by 70,704 square miles and you have North Dakota.

But they do have the Worlds Largest Holstein Cow. And let me tell you, it was big.

Then Minnesota.

Minneapolis, the first serious sign of civilization since Spokane in eastern WA.

Then Wisconsin.

Where I met Jeff, my friend from the Adirondack Semester, in Madison.

Downtown.

Jeff’s dad is the president of Bou Matic, a company that makes cow milking machines and milk coolers and whatnot, so I took a tour! It was actually very interesting.

Sunrise in Madison, note the ice fisher on the lake.

2000 miles somewhere around Chicago.

And in Chi-Town, where I got stuck in traffic for like two hours.

Illinois.

Ohio.

The cabin at Shawnee, looks a little dark and creepy in this picture...

MSP and his daughter at the playground.

The lodge, I swam in the pool, had a hot tub and sauna.

Andy (MSPs friend), Ryan (MSP), Scott (ninefivezero!)

A rack of cool cars at a rest stop... A8, Vette, S500, Maserati eh?

Cooling towers in Ohio (I think....)

One of the Great Lakes from New York.

Stopped by Niagara Falls, it felt like a waste of time at 50 miles out of the way, 1.5 hours and 4 extra toll booths, but I can't deny that cool picture makes it almost worth it.

Final milage of my trip.

My dirty car. Did great the whole time, I'm very happy with it.

Where I'm living this year, the Habitat For Humanity theme house. Cool place, oh, and I have the interview to go on the trip to the New Orleans area on Wed, to work on a house over spring break.

And there is my setup at school. Pretty small... oh, and my computer had TWO BSOD yesterday, I'll forever hate the mail for what they have done to my poor computer.

Trip Summary: The east is flat.

"The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little." - Franklin D. Roosevelt

I'm glad you made the trip and got there in one piece. Those pix are great...thanx.
I'm not much of a solo driver anymore. I could barely stay awake on my return trip from the coast driving solo saturday....it was only 260 miles. When I was your age I was OK at long solos.....again, glad you made it.

So what are you doing for Habitat for Humanity? Are you going down to build houses for them in New Orleans? Are you doing that part time and still going to school?

I'm really surprised with the clarity of some of the pictures I took through the windshield... if you think that looks nice, you should come see the mountians in Washington.

That is a pretty good distance, what were you doing in AZ?

I'll probably stop by at some point this semester.

I could have gotten even more lost than I already did trying to find it! Eh, I didn't have time for any extra stops though...

It was pretty easy actually. Put on some tunes, enjoy the scenery and 10 hours of driving in a day is not that bad, at least I don't think it is.

It is a week long trip to Slidell, LA (30 miles outside of New Orleans) to work on a house over spring break. Last year I did the spring break trip with Habitat as well, in Guyton, GA.

Where are you going to go? Personally I like driving in the west so much more. It is so much more open, you can get away from cities and people, the mountians are wonderful and it is easy to find a spot to sleep on the side of the road

It was probably around 18-20 degrees at night (~8c). Cold, but the inside of the car stayed warm enough until I fell asleep, and I used two sleeping bags so I was actually pretty warm while I slept. Mornings were cold though when I had to get out of the bags.

And you should go on a road trip to Cali, great place to do it. Let me know, I can recomend some good places, that is where I spent a lot of time on my last road trip.
