Never had a pair of work boots that nice.

Check that shit. My mom bought em for me as kind of a gift for getting a new job. I start in an hour actually. The shitty part is I havent slept yet. So I have a 10 hour day an hour away working my ass off in 101 degree weather.

Last time I started a job like this I was dead for a week.

Wish me luck guys.

All I see is a black hole, and sooner or later they’re going to suck each one of us into it. But when they come for me, I'm going to take as many of them with me as I can.

Also, I must say I do look pretty sexy dressed up as a construction worker with new clothes.

I hope your day goes well. Your feet are going to hurt like a not-so-virgin-ass.

Mason work.

Oh man. Swear to god the fucking sun sucks more energy out of you than anything.

I miss my old company

I used to take forklifts for granted. I played forklift today, except that I was way less efficient. I got to run around with 80 pounds alternating to 100 pounds on my shoulders all day. Im working under three masons and they all decide to work like 400 feet apart instead of all on the same wall. That means that when Im not running around with stacks of cinder blocks or bags of spec mix, i get to push a wheel barrel full of wet cement through sand. To top it off I work for a bunch of nazi tweakers. I only saw one mexican today which was way unusual.

I was way tired when I got off about 4 and a half hours ago. I just woke up and feel pretty good. Imma eat something and have some beer then go back to sleep.

Ive already been to a few around here. I was looking into the heavy machinery guys and when I went in I ran into a guy who says hes been trying to get in for about three years. It seems like around here it comes down to who you know.

I have a uncle who is in a Longshoreman union at the LA harbor. He makes fucking bank and has a kick ass job. Anyway, he gets one "pass" kind of thing a year that gets someone a chance to join (provided you know your shit and can pass the tests). He gave this years to his stepdaughter who is like 24 and she already fucking lost her job. If she would have just not been stupid she could have had a kick ass job. People in that union sell those shits to certain people for a decent amount of money.

Long story short, Im gonna see if he can hook it up with his next one. I kinda have to wait a lil while though.

Tell me about it.

And the heat does suck the energy right out of your body. The coolest day last week was 101. So far, it's only been in the lower 90's since Saturday. When the heat gets to me, I just remember digging those footings last winter in the pouring down, ice cold rain. It doesn't help, but it gives me another ass ache to think about.

I'm glad I have an apprentice

Kid, there's good money in masonry if you work for yourself, Yeah it's hard. Take it as an 8 hr. workout, drink lots of water catch some sun and cash the paycheck. Learn as much as you can before you change jobs though,, an additional notch in the resume never hurt...

Yeah, after 30+ years of doing what WB mentioned, I can get a fair paying job anywhere and be in biz for myself. Even if I do change my line of work, I'll always have a way to pay the bills, even in economic depressed times, seeing as how people tend to put money into their homes when all other investment avenues are zilch.

Ouch it has been hot as shit out lately, I think the craziest part about working outside out here is the heat, today it got hot when we were outside and we were out early too, it gets hot quick.
