Well my V600 finally packed it in. With a lifetime of about 500 hours, over a year old, and daily abuse, as of 3 days ago, it no longer would charge.
I tried everything, the charger would not charge the phone, it wouldn't go into charging mode. The connection is really shitty for the v600, and you usually have to wiggle the connector to get it to accept. I tried cleaning the contacts and everything, but no luck.
Considering the phone was bought like the first day it was available, it was full of software glitches and I never did update the firmware. The faceplate was scratched to hell, the bezel was also scratched to hell, and the camera lens was missing and full of dust and shit. The loud speaker on the back was blown and even on full volume, you had to put it up to your ear to hear anything. Basically what im trying to say is that it won't be missed

I was either going to go really really cheap until I felt like splooging for a good phone, or I was just gonna splooge. I splooged

The software is much faster and far less bugy than the v600 was, so im liking it so far. However the phone seems to be bad luck, since I got it i've gotten sick, and me and my girlfriend are fighting bigtime.

Anyone know where I can get the motorola phone tools? I want to enable the video recording function.

Yea it was my charger that was fried for the v600. The wall charger that I had at home worked perfectly. I needed a new one anyways, I really did, just read the original post.

However there are rebates only if you sign up on a contract, im not going to get locked into anything so I just bought it out at 409. I saw unlocked brand new ones going for 375cndn but since im only going to use rogers I could care less. My old v600 was unlocked and I never changed providers or anything, so why do it again.

The V600 still works, im going to keep it as a backup.

You can seem edit the phone to get video recording capabilities.

There is no gps on that phone, maybe you mean gprs (data) which you can disable by putting in the wrong settings.

I would have passed on the razor myself the 6682 is alot better. But that's just a matter of opinion.

All cell phones manufactured today contain GPS tracking devices I believe. And FCC requires that all carriers have at least 95% of their users with "location-equiped" phones by December 31. This is one reason many carriers are selecting phones that can be ring-silenced but not actually switched off. If I am confused about the issue in some way please explain.

Yeah, I just read that. I think all the new phones still have GPS, though, right?

As for the carriers, I have a feeling they will each be adopting both methods.

So if GPS doesn't use triangulation, what does it use? Isn't there a way with like parabolas or something?

That's not what he meant. With GPS, the GPS in your cell determines your location and transmittes the information to your cell carrier. When he mentioned triangulation, he meant that the cell carrier measures the time it takes for your signal to reach various cell towers. The difference is whether your phone gives you away or the carrier tracks your ass down themselves. This is all relatively new as far as cells go and meant to determine your specific location, it is not required to provide you cell service from a technological standpoint.

Damn, so with todays phones, you can be located?
Makes you wonder if they will use that information to track where you go and in return send you flyers for the places you've been or something...
On the legal side, its good, cause if your a friggen serial killer and you don't know about this, you can be located.

Enable Video:
1. SEEM 0032_0001 offset 70 bit 6 (1 on, 0 off)

2. SEEM 004a_0001 offset 1D3 (01) - no bit manipulation with this SEEM. Just change the offset value to 01.

3. You have to edit mma menu file. You can use program like P2KMenuEditor to activate Video Camera menu under Multimedia.

Other Seem Edits
1. Video length: Maximum/MMS

SEEM 0032_0001 offset 6E bit 3 (1 on, 0 off)

2. Resolution: High (176 x 144)/Low (128 x 96)
SEEM 0032_0001 offset 7D > bit 7 (1 on , 0 off)

3.Recording sound: On/Off
SEEM 0032_0001 offset 6E bit 2 (1 on, 0 off)

you need some sort of p2k program to edit seems. pm me if you need one

No not all phones use gps, most gsm phones don't.

And I think the tracking thing only works in an emergency, I've never seen it used during any other time, in fact I've never seen it used.

Triangulation would be done on the system side not the phone.
