my parents owned both a BMW and Mercedes. Mercedes suffers from small detail problems such as buttons sticking and stuff. BMW is flawless, but the 2004 models had some computer problems.

i would take a BMW over mercedes any day.

MSP, you being older than most people here can probably attest to the fact that Mecedes used to be the shit when it came to luxury cars. They've really lost out to BMW in the last 15 years.

My Mercedes ('93 190) has only had one problem that wasn't directly related to me being an idiot, a spring in the throttle body snapped causing the gas peddle to go soft and pin the engine. That fucking thing was going 90 in a 50 before I gave up trying to get the car to slow down, and just shut it off. It was the weirdest thing, it felt like the cruise control was on.

Other than that, my car has been pretty much awesome.

If you own / like Mercedes there's nothing wrong with that. There are some very nice models that go VERY fast. But in terms of reliability there's just no denying it - compared to BMW and their Japanese competitors the have fallen WAY behind on quality.

I didn't like the hubcaps on the BMW and the Mercedes was the wrong color so I bought a minivan.
Really if i could afford it I'd buy an old muscle car. I have freinds with both BMWs' and Mercedes' and honestly have never heard a complaint. I'm sure if you watch you'll hear a rebuttal to that article soon.
