you are against smoking? like you dont think other should be able to? The main problem, is the that these commercials show propoganda from studies that have been twisted around to meet their needs, and claim them as truth. smokers rights are being worn down by this bullshit, but no one will do anything about it.

and on top of that, is the name. heres a blog article i found interesting

Here's a question to ponder as you honor the Memorial Day weekend in your own way: Who else should be allowed to sneak F bombs into television commercials, now that thetruth.com has rolled out its whudafxup campaign? I have no complaints with the content of the first whudafxup commercial, which unclouds the public mind about British-American Tobacco Co.'s use of the word "Zephyr" as a code for "cancer" in internal documents in the 1950s. And I'm not recommending that FCC chairman Kevin Martin—last seen puzzling over the contextual riddle of when and where the word fuck can be uttered, pursuing TV stations with $32,500 and $325,000 fines for using unsigned advertorials, and deciding not to investigate the question of whether it was lawful for three major phone carriers to provide confidential customer information to the National Security Agency—exert himself pursuing a bunch of antitobacco do-gooders. I'm just saying take a look at the commercial: These bullhorned public servants are embedding more fucks than there were in the Clam-Plate Orgy. Who else is allowed to play?

I'm with rx on that I believe that smoking isn't cool. I smoked for a while myself(about 6 months) but just dropped it.

At the same time, I'm with Jackalope on the fact that the "truth" campaign is just a ridiculous waste of tax money and gives an absurd twist on the truth. Not only that, but here(California) anti-smoking laws are getting ridiculous. No public institution can allow smoking. No bar in California can allow it's patrons to smoke indoors. I could see requiring a non-smoking section, but no, they just ban it all together.

There once was a man named Bertold
Who drank beer when the weather grew cold
As he reached for his cup...
"NEEEEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP!!!"
Oh, snap! You just got limerickrolled!

well I don't think it's really healthy or it's a lifestyle that I want, but if it makes them happy, then what can I do? To each his own.

I've quit smoking. I'm having cigars here and there to treat myself... but no more cigarettes for me.

Mmm, bacon.

Smoking is an unhealthy habit just like many others. Why all the smoker hate? I'm for banning smoking in restarants and other non-bar places, but I don't hate people for smoking. I smoke once in a while myself.

the problem with smoking and smokers, is that second-hand smoke is dangerous to others that arent smokers.

But if a person smokes outside, I don't give a damn. It's just more of a problem when lots of ppl are smoking in a secluded area. Kinda disgusting

I'm for limits on smoking, but some places have just gone too far. Not being able to smoke outside for example. One town, I forget where, banned smoking in your own house!!! I'd stand at my window with a cigarette in one hand and a gun in the other. Come write me a ticket motherfucker.

I don't like smoking. I never have smoked. I never liked going to the bars because then you come out smelling like smoke.

I'm glad when they passed that nice little bylaw in the province that banned smoking from inside the work place, and then from restaurants and bars.

It's nice to have relatively free and clear lungs.

I'm in agreement with Jackalope about the use of BS to push the public into legislation that wouldn't stand a chance if the real thueth were known. You guys don't see that this is the way things are being changed now days? Spin a few studies in a way that supports what it is you want to change and pump it up to change tha public opinion and put it out there. PETE, Greenpeace, etc. do it, anti tobaco does it, next it may well be anti alcohol, anti aftershave, anti sex, ant, anti ,anti...

While tobaco is prooven to be bad, that's not the point, this isn't about the merits of what is trying to be change, rather the way it's being changed. The precidence has been set and the public is buying into
the shit and laws are being passed. It's a ploy that's being used because it works. FYI: I'm a smoker, I agree with the smoking bans at indoor locations. I don't smoke around kids, in my own home or in my car/truck. Indoor smoking bans are a logical thing, but that's not the goal of the propaganda machine....the goal is an all-out ban on tobaco and it won't stop until it's completed it's mission. Next it'll be something that maybe one of you indulge in. It won't stop at tobaco, I guarantee it.

Until now, never!before in Earth history, has mass extinction involved a choice.

When I smoke I don't do it in my house, and never around my kids. When I was a kid my old man blew smoke in our face for years, so it's a pet peave of mine. I think they should tax tobacco more heavily and put the proceeds into a fund to pay for the health related costs. At six dollars a pack fewer people would smoke, and those that did wouldn't be a burden on the health system any longer.
