I'm surprised no one has posted this, but Apple just released Boot Camp, some sort of BIOS level emulator to allow windows to boot natively on intel macbooks.

Cnn Article
Interesting look at Apple's move

I was going to bring that up, but figured someone would beat me to the punch. Apple has successfully been infiltrated.

Interesting, but I don't know if it will make a huge dent.
Hardcore Mac users will still use MacOSx (I have to give it up: It's really cool, and I dare to say that better than XP), and People who don't want to switch because of soft issues bu love the hardware got their piece of the pie too.
I know for one that I'll keep my iBook for a while, but once the Intel iBook replacements reach it's second generation, I'll consider replacing it. Sadly Visual Studio doesn't work well on MacOs and there is some stuff that I need it for.

Better for them to officially release it then to have some guys figure it out and unnofficially release it, if you know what I mean
I guess the guys trying to do this without apples permission must have been getting close..

No one cares about the mac users. What this says is that windows users want to use apples hardware.

At least that's the way I look at it.

Things like this make me wonder if dvorak will be right with his prediction.

I don't get it. To me the appeal of Apple is OSX, it is a great OS. The hardware from a Mac to a PC is pretty much the same.

Isn't this just giving Windows a lot of credit if Apple has to use it to sell their computers?

Yeah, booting XP on an overpriced computer = yawn. Now, booting OSX on a PC I build / buy? Then I would become a customer, just out of morbid curiosity if nothing else.

Its funny, becuase you say that its interesting to boot osx on a cheaply built pc. People want a machine thats cheap that runs OSX, now these same people usually use mac os becuase its very stable and reliable. But the pc that you so cheaply built has now created...

holy fuck am i stoned

Cheaply built? Yeah. Rock solid stable and fast for the past few years? Yeah. And when I built it the cheapest Apple was an 800mhz iMac with 128MB of ram that cost $899... For $400-500 I built a 3ghz with 1GB of ram, RAID drive arrays, a DVD burner, a nice case, etc. Did I mention my PC has been the Rock of Gibraltar?

My personal shit is rock solid and that goes for all but one of my 10 box's (the one that isn't stable is due to a faulty mobo).

I prefer working on a system where things just work. None of that configuring a program to run properly, it just will. Guess that's why I went Mac. It does my audio work without me having to intervene for proper drivers, settings, and other BS. Plug in and go!

If you are referring to the fact that by "configure" and "bs" that I have to configure my audio system to output in 6.1 as opposed to stereo, then I guess you are right.

And I have yet to configure a program to run properly.

If the mac works great for you then that's all that matters but my reasons for not using one still stands.
