That would be my guess as well.

I unplugged both the cpu fan and the ps fan, same results and the cpu fan was a three pin one.

sounds like something to do with the CPU. I had simliar problems. I'd try fooling around with the CPU some more

I got it to work correctly now and my fix was stated above.
