No really.

NBC installing Fallon on 'Late Night' - CNN.com

Quote:
NEW YORK (AP) -- Jimmy Fallon's kindergarten yearbook at St. Mary of the Snow in Saugerties, New York, listed him as "most likely to take over for David Letterman."

Letterman's going nowhere, but close enough: Fallon is succeeding Conan O'Brien as the host of NBC's "Late Night" sometime in the middle of next year. NBC on Monday made official a plan that's been talked about since 2003, when a network executive first broached the idea of doing a talk show with the former "Saturday Night Live" star.

"I've been doing a monologue in my living room the last three years and it was embarrassing," Fallon joked at a news conference.

However, he said, "my wife seemed to like it."

NBC's plan is to have O'Brien move west to take over for Jay Leno at the "Tonight" show next year. After a break to refurbish the Rockefeller Center studio where O'Brien now works, the 33-year-old Fallon will take over.

The Fallon transition is being managed by Lorne Michaels, who famously picked O'Brien out of obscurity to fill Letterman's old slot at NBC, then stuck with him despite savage early reviews.

Fallon, a former "SNL" cast member who has acted in movies the past few years, should have an easier time of it, he said.

"You're never really certain of these things, but I just think he's built for it," Michaels said. "You've just seen that he's really funny, he's smart and he has a really, really good work ethic."

Fallon signed a deal with NBC in 2007 that was widely seen as a way to keep him in the fold until the time came for Monday's announcement.

Yeah...not sure how well that is going to work...but whatever.

So he'll laugh to himself after every joke he makes in hopes of making everyone else laugh. Looks that way from all his SNL skits, at least...

I can...his name is conan o'brien

We stood on the mountain tops with calenders and guns
Made peace with the savages
Swapped livers for their lungs
Bathed in different shades of beige,
The new world had begun

He sucks, there goes the show. I'm actually a big fan of O'Brien. Anybody remember when Craig Kilborn hosted the show?

EDIT: My bad, that was the Late Late Show he hosted.

Doesn't really matter to me. As far as I am concerned the late show with conan is moving to 11:30 next year and that is awesome.

NOOOO!!!! I wish they had chosen Tom Green instead of that guy. Looks I'll be watching the Late Late Show w/ Craig Ferguson after the Tonight Show w/ Conan O'Brien, then.

Tom Green? Is it 2000 again? Dude wasn't funny then and isn't still.

Andy Dick would be better than Tom Green. Hell, Carson Daly would be a step up from the uni-baller.

Unfortunately I wish it were that simple but I'm afraid with the time change he's gonna be forced to change his act. I think he got away with alot more at the late time slot and now he's gonna have to get more serious and mature. It could go either way, though. Let's hope he's as brilliant as I think he is.

Who cares who takes over for conan? Hopefully conan doesn't suck now that he's the main spotlight, like Leno does. I'll just be turning off the TV at 11:30, instead of 12:30 when carson starts.

Yeah, I do not find any of them funny. Especially the proffesional "dweeb", Letterman.

See, I like Letterman too. It's that dry, ignorant humor that just cracks me up for some reason.

I like Letterman, O'brien, Kilborn (when he did host), and Ferguson. I've never been a big fan of Leno though. Not sure why. Sometimes he's funny but just not the same as the others. We'll have to wait and see if Fallon does a good job. it's hard to know until we see it. Seems like there would be many other better choices though.
