| Senior Member | For the past year my girlfriend has noticed that I twitch while I sleep. I've done some research and found that it could be a sleeping disorder called "sleep apnea" or it could be "hypnagogic myoclonus". Or maybe its something else. Basically right after I fall asleep, my legs, feet, arms, head... will begin to twitch at different times. I found that these occurrences are quite common, some much more severe than others. I think I might have a mild case of something. I do not snore much at all from what people tell me, but I do breath quite heavily at times. I did have a mild case of asthma when I was about seven years old. Today, I went to take a nap and caught myself in the act. I woke up and found my left foot jerking to the left. The jerking might have been violent enough to wake me up. Many people say its just because of dreaming. But sleep apnea claims that while someone sleeps, they repeatedly temporarily stop breathing, sometimes for about ten seconds and sometimes for close to a minute. This claim stands out because after I smoke the green, sometimes I start feeling sick. Sometimes I'll catch myself barely breathing, so I start breathing at normal intervals and begin feeling much better. So who else out there has been caught or has caught themselves twitching while asleep? |

| Deez nuts. | I could always tell when Tremblay had fallen asleep because he would twitch a certain number of times and then it would stop. Tay does the same thing, and I've been told I do it sometimes, but usually when I'm just napping (ie, fell asleep watching tv, on the couch, not in bed for a full night's sleep). |

| Senior Member | Yeah, I'll tend to twitch a lot when napping. But even for a full nights rest, I'll twitch all night. |

| Has Absolutely no life | My movements have gotten worse recently, I was laying on my bed one night going to sleep and I sat straight up in bed on a twitch. Sometimes my arms and legs jerk, its not fun. |

| I Am The Black Wizards | I think it happens to everyone. I wouldn't buy into doping yourself with some drug that gives you side effects that are worse than what you're wanting to cure. |

| Resident Cynic | Man, I've been known to turn into a werewolf at night, but I've never twitched. Fucking weirdos. Seriously though, I'm pretty sure you're reading WAY too much into it. I'm not sure I've ever met anyone that doesn't do it. |

| All I see is a black hole, and sooner or later they’re going to suck each one of us into it. But when they come for me, I'm going to take as many of them with me as I can. | |

| Saint, Church of Ryanism | I twitch and move a lot at night. Funny thing, though, is that I always sleep very deeply until the last hour before I have to wake up (good mental clock). I've been known to even help my girlfriend (even in the last month I've been around her!) by grabbing things off the dresser/nightstand she asks me for and not even being awake. She knows it, too, as I just mumble/groan and make no sense at all from what words I can utter. ~Will Courtier~ |

| Member | I think it's normal. I catch myself twitching, and my girlfriend does it as well. I doubt you have sleep apnea. My friend has it and he snores like a buzz saw. People with sleep apnea sometimes stop breathing because the respiratory tract gets blocked when sleeping, hence the snoring. If you don't, then that's one big symptom you don't have. |

| outside the box! | This is why married and otherwise attatched adults twitch in their sleep. |
![]() Say goodbye to our beloved planet. Because there is alot more money to be made in emitting greenhouse gasses, than curtailing emissions. Get out of the box, then recycle it.

| Globe Trekker | I twitch, talk, moan, snore, walk, and occasionally grope in my sleep! I've woken up standing in the corner of my bedroom in shock. "What in the fuck am I doing here?!?" I first became aware of this in college when my now ex-wife then girlfriend told me I was making weird noises in my sleep. I didn't believe her so I put my sound activated recorder next to my bed for the night. The next morning when I woke up I hit the rewind button and it ran and ran and ran... I pressed play and was totally stunned. Imagine sound effects from Doom or perhaps American McGee's Alice. Freaky, freaky shit. Last edited by MSP; 10-06-2007 at 10:17 AM.. |

| Senior Member | I also drool a lot When I was reading into it, I also thought I was reading into it too much. And I have no intent in taking any meds for it either. Wiskas, thanks for that. I really am looking forward to it... MSP, classic. I have been wanting to video record myself, but don't have the proper equipment. Since I'm with my girlfriend for the weekend and she has an audio recorder, I will definitely be recording myself tonight. FYI, I have been called a freak/weirdo many times before, you're nothing special! |

We all do it when we fall asleep. It's the muscles releasing tension. It'S just that we aren't aware that we do it, so we usually witness it when we start sleeping with people. Some twitch more or less though, not the same level for everybody.
