Tell me if this is a crazy idea. Best Buy has a 26' LCD TV/monitor on sale for $499 after rebate and I was thinking of using it on my computer. I got the idea after we got a big 40-something inch Polaroid display for the lobby of my office and was surprised how well it worked as a PC monitor (we use it to play Power Point slides and video for our vistors and customers). Anyway, bad idea?

Could always return it if the idea does not work out... I don't know how happy I'd be looking at something that big from only about 2 feet away personally, plus my 17" monitors are higher resolution than that thing..

Well, this is what I want but don't want to spend $1,200. It goes on sale for a grand from time to time, I guess I could stand paying that much. The resolution on that Westinhouse is pretty low...

You can get lucky and get the 2405FPW for around $750-800 with good deals ..... $1000 is pretty much normal price for that thing

My brother has the 20" non-widescreen, and let me say the thing is great. If you really want one, do yourself a favor and splurge, you will NOT regret it.

Yeah, I've found coupon codes for around 700 bucks for that thing! They were all expired, but they'll offer it for that price again. Or less if the 2006 LCD production glut predictions turn out to be true.

Yeah, I'll just wait and see. If I could get it on sale for $700-900 I'd buy one right now.

beware of the TV-LCD think. they arent like computer LCDs

TV LCDs are very susceptible to screen burn-in caused by still portions of the image (windows)

that dell is nice with the component video cables so you could easily hook up say a xbox360 or ps3 or dvd player to it and the picture quality actually is pretty good.
