How far are we going to be stretched before we break. I believe a lot of people will find out. Earnings are plummeting and costs are soaring. Our electric bills just took a hike and the power companies are asking for another hike on top of that.
Public Utility Commission News Release
KDRV 12 -

The weather's at or near 100 degrees, can't afford to run the air conditioner, wash all cloths in cold water, reduced showers as much as is bearable, line dry laundry, no leaving computers on, reduced TV, only two lights (max) on at a time, and any other way to cut usage....only to have any and all electric bill savings eaten up by rate increases. Meanwhile, I've earned 96 dollars, so far this week from my job. Military, rather than peacefull action is where this is headed....i'm at the breaking point and I know I'm not alone.[/rant]

unemployment comp= $463 minus 45$child support/week, depending on how much i earn at my job. Who said anything about "living" on 96 bux/week?
Does anyone still wonder why I rant so much? It's only going to get worse. Nobody wants to hire a broken 50 year old especially when there's so many that do what I do and are under 35 out of work also. I don't know where to go from here, this is what I've done for 33 years, other than work in factories (plywood and fibreglass). It's nearly imposible to get SSD and re-training dollars are almost nill. Cashing in isn't a very appealing option. It's not too comfortable between a rock and a hard place....not comfortable at all.

I like how they want a public forum to gather opinions on the increase....as if that will matter to them. We've been fortunate enough here to not have any increases recently *knocks on wood* but how can they justify an additional increase in the same year?

Perfect. Fuck. Ok stay here and get... butt fucked by 12 Neanderthals. Bitch

A week.

What I want to know, is they are claiming that the request for rate increases are due to oil prices...WTF, BPA (Bonneville Power Administration) is all hydro from the columbia fucking river.
Are they making the water flow with gas engines? give me a fucking break. All forms of traditional energy are bilking record profits and i want to know why. Notice that you never hear much about the investigations congress supposedly has heald.

My Mom lives on about that much a week, and the fool tithes to her church too! I can't imagine how she does it, or you Wiskas. Any progress towards getting on disability?

Memphis is extremely bad about it. They estimate your usage based off of the norm. They say that they only do this for those people where they can't get to the meter, but they do it to tons. Fucking lazy, money-hungry corporations.

MLGW.. Memphis Light, Gas and Water. So electricity, gas/oil, and water, more than likely.

I think I would have a stroke if my electric bill was $300

I was antsy about my first electric bill since moving in, the gf and I did some massive laundry and had a lot of guests over the first month so the AC was kicking and the stove was a'cookin.

Only came out to $111.00

Not too shabby

My highest winter bill is only about $175, I'd flip it we topped $120 during the summer.

Ours was running around 180/mo during the winter. We shaved it to 95. Without using more and even less at times, our bill is back to 175. What the fuck is the point. And Xeon.....that is opower from the BPA, thier only concern is the power they creat with the flow of the Columbia river. Pacificorp has had thier own increases too, that's who owns Pacific Power and sends us our bill. I see the same happening with nat gas, propane, gasoline and heating oil. The more you cut back, the more they jack you.

As for living on 463-child support a week, who said I was living on it. It costs a minimum of 3000 a month for two seniors to live, then add to that debt repayment plan, IRS, and now the state revenue is penalising me and wants more taxes. It's like wiping your ass with a hoop.....there's no end to the shit.

Wiskas (and everyone else) have you seen/heard about the PowerSave1200?

Power-Save Energy Corp.- Save Energy, reduce electric bills, power save, save power, power-save, , low electric bills, lower electric bill, lower, electric, bill, lower heating bill

If you scroll down they have some .pdf files explaining what you need to know. My uncle recommended this to my father after a topic in conversation about how about 3 or 4% of the electricity used in the house is being sent back out into the power grid but we still get charged for it.
