So today I planned on going with Nothing to the Navy recruiter. Wrong, grandma is in the hospital and I have to go see her 45 mins away.

Then, I get 2 job interview calls. One with Cingular, saying I was one of the few out of hundreds chosen for a face to face interview for this position I applied to not too long ago, and it's professional business attire and blah blah. So I'm like cool, something to do for a while. I agree to an interview on Thursday. Then they tell me where I have to go. Bloomington, Minnesota. Okay, 5 hour drive. No biggie.

Then I get another call, and I have another interview at a marketing firm in downtown Chicago on Friday. Same professional business attire and shit like that, good money.

Tomorrow I probably have to go back and see my grandma. My schedule just went from nothing to filled in like 2 hours. :\

i don't know about working for cingular as long as its not selling phones cause of course your whole paycheck is selling their service, so its pretty much commision, but if its not that then good luck on both your interviews, also, is this changing your mind on joining the navy?

Learn something

No it's not changing my mind on joining, I just have alot of stuff going on right now. And it wouldn't be selling phones, I'd be working at the corporate headquarters doing something. Honestly I forgot what I applied for, because I applied for so many damn jobs on Monster.

God damn. They weren't kidding about this 10,000 lakes shit. I'm trying to find this place scrolling through on Mapquest and every time I push a button there's a new lake. Even right in the middle of the city. Weird

They are different. But, still a very nice qualification to have. I bet if I had a Mechanical Journeyman, I would get the job faster than most people who worked in the field for like 5 years.

Nautical Journeyman.
Mechanical Journeyman.
Aviation Journeyman.
Seaman Subfarer Journeyman.

I know they buried her body with others
Her sister and mother and 500 families
And will she remember me 50 years later?
I wished I could save her in some sort of time machine
Know all your enemies
We know who our enemies are

There's no way they are going to give you 15 years enlistment salary as a bonus.

actually, they are getting in to the 6 figures for re-enlistment.

No, Miller, I would be a journeyman when I get out of the Navy. I work for it during the Navy.
No ones blowing smoke up my ass. Maybe you should get some facts before posting bullshit.

just because you have the title of navy "journeyman" doesnt mean you can go into any trade you wish. a electrician journeyman differes from a steamfiters journeyman, differes from a carpenders journeymanm differs from a navy journeyman, it may help your skip a few years off your apprentacship but no way in hell our are going to be able to pick any trade you want right out of the navy. get your facts strait, ive been to more thn enough trade meeting to know what im talking about, you hear what the guy trying to get you in the navy tells you. june 22nd, 3300 S. 103rd Street go attend a meeting then come back here and try and tell me whats up. again, our just getting smoke blown up our ass.

It's true. The only military journeymanship that is anywhere similar to civy journeymanship would probably be 'electrician". Everything else, the technology is too much of a difference, and codes are nothing alike.
You have to remember that the recruiter does get a 'production' bonus for surpassing a set quota of recruitees. So there is a propensity to exagerate and outright lie to prospects when coming close to reaching the number required to recieve incentives. My brother was a Navy recruiter for 6 years. He finally got fed up with the numbers game and went back into carrier duty and then into retirement after 23 years of service.
