so today while i was brushing my teeth i ran the water for a bit and i noticed that it wasn't draining good. So i pulled the top off the open/close valve and it was full of black shit and hair. I used a hanger to scrape most of it out, but is there something i could pour down there to clean it up more.

No my girlfriend is not coming over.

Driving the bus to hell since 1984.

Beneath the sink will be "U" shaped drain pipe. Remove it and clean it out, problem solved!

Yah, just empty the trap, no need to use chemicals.

The chemicals don't work all that well anyway.

Which is why some people pay a plumber like $70 to do that 2 minute job for them Or they don't even know what to do, or what trap is.

Just make sure you're ready for how bad it's going to smell when you do that.

Well, I think it's a mental thing too.

The whole time I was doing it, I was just thinking of all the bodily fluids washed down the drain. And body hair. And other gross things.

gag.

'P' traps are nothing. Try cutting into a 3' ABS pipe and have shit splash all over you. I went into the owner and handed him a $300.00 change order once I got everything torn apart. He didn't think twice and gladly paid it seeing as how it'd have cost him 500 bux to have a plumber put it all back together....he kept apologizing for his shit getting on me. A good shower and I was as good as new...
...with an extra 300 clams in my pocket. And, by all means, DO NOT use draino
on your clog. That shit ought to be outlawed forever.

It eats the seals on slip joints, it eats metal pipes, it erodes ABS and PVC pipes (makes them brittle), it isn't good for the environment (all that chemical laden water has to go somewhere), it causes chemical burns that get super infected on the skin of anyone that has to work on your pipes and the list goes on ad infinitum. Not to mention that they don't work worth a shit.

I can relate to wiskas, back when I was doing my frist year apprentice was working for the transit comission... working on public washrooms, the most horrid shit (literally) you'd ever see. Though when I had to cut into a WC drain I dodged outta the way before the shit splashed everywhere haha.
