Wait a good heart monitor like the connectors to the chest, or a finger heart monitor?

All I see is a black hole, and sooner or later they’re going to suck each one of us into it. But when they come for me, I'm going to take as many of them with me as I can.

My resting rate just now was 68. 55 is damned good, you must be doing something very right. What's this with a magic number of 109? I don't get it.

Maybe the magic number is the ideal cardio/fat-burning heart rate via the Karvonen Formula?

eg

206.9 - (0.67 x 23 (age)) = 191
191 - 65 (resting heart rate) = 126
126 * 65% (low end of heart rate zone) OR 85% (high end) = 82 OR 107
82 + 65 (resting heart rate) = 147
107 + 65 (rhr) = 172
The target heart rate zone for this person would be 147 to 172

Though I don't think 55 and 109 would fit in there...

Yeah, those numbers would only make sense if he was 75 years old or something. I think Fiddy got it right.

According to that formula my heart rate target (80%) would be 160bpm. I've always used this formula: 220 - age x .80 = thr. In my case 148.8bpm. And I generally do two one hour sessions in the 145-155bpm range.

Creepy, I just checked mine and it was 68 as well. I was just chasing the cat around the house trying to get a picture though.

I'm actually around 60 right now which is better than I had expected. Though resting isn't exactly when I have problems.

Torx, you can take your heart rate with nothing more than a finger and a clock.

I'm trying to evolve.

Yep. Just cram the clock and the finger up your ass and after 20 minutes or so it'll give your heart rate.

I just use the clock built into Windows, but I do have heart rate monitor as well. Just find your pulse with your fore finger, and count the number of beats you feel for 15 seconds. Then multiply by four.

Check Your Pulse America™ - Learn how to check your pulse.

I just checked mine and it's 60-64bpm. Odd because today I'm at work and yesterday I was relaxing at home. You'd think it would be the other way around.

That's an EKG/ECG. Those are for reading the the hearts electrical rhythms. And I'm surprised more people don't have BP cuffs. For a decent one and stethoscope it's like $20, and they're way more accurate than the cheap automatic ones.
