| Former Alcoholic | ok, well i haven't had a drink in 3 weeks, i've been eating super healthy and working out every day, i've dropped 13 lbs. but tomorrow I'm going up to a party at a collage and might want to drink a little, but don't wanna chug beers. and shit with a million calories. how good is wine? or maybe some hard alcohol. i don't want to drink soda tho so it would have to taste good with Gatorade or something... any suggestions? | |

| No. We can't stop here. | Wine is always good for you, especially your heart as you age. If you're watching calories drinking Gatorade outside of working out is kind of counter productive as it's loaded with sugar. Drink some light beer and mix your liquor with something low calorie or diet and you should be good. | |

| Curmudgeon | Do yourself up a good Caeser. I think of it as more of alcoholics breakfast sort of drink, but really it's good any time. Seems health to me, relatively speaking. ![]()

| Jolly Roger | You could get some nice scotch or rye and drink it on the rocks. Hard alcohol itself doesn't have alot of calories. or just mix any hard alcohol with a diet drink. (if you can handle of the terrible taste) Its not great if your on a diet in itself, but drinking it now and then won't hurt. Last edited by sims : 03-27-2008 at 08:24 PM. | |

| Not Just Handsome | Yea, I second the diet coke and rum. I used to go out drinking with some people that were pretty weight conscious and thats what they'd drink. | |

| Tweak Minion | He said he was going to a party at a college... are you all expecting a bartender or something? All the college parties I went to had Icehouse, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Miller Lite, or Natty Ice kegs with some sort of fruit punch vodka/everclear/piss combo. And smirnoff if you went anywhere and asked for that drink they'd probably ask you to leave. Also- don't bring wine unless it's a dinner party. Vodka is full of calories and so is the soda you'll mix it with. The only way you'll be able to stay on your diet and drink is to replace food with alcohol which isn't worth it. Guinness is one of the lowest calorie beers out there, lower than lite beers. I suggest compensating your partying with working out a little harder before and after instead of trying to avoid drinking healthy. Last edited by Coleman : 03-27-2008 at 09:48 PM. | |

| Gramps | Drinking anything with alcohol in it to excess is not a healthy drink even if you cut it with "the elixor of the gods". Alcohol is a toxin and can't be concidered healthy. it has been said that wine has therapeutic qualities. But the amounts that are discribed to obtain the benefit are paltry to say the least. Definately not the amounts you'd consume at a party. concider this also: if you pick up a drink of alcohol, the fact that you "quit for three weeks" will mean nothing and can be concidered the same as quitting smoking for three weeks and having a smoke at a party. The process of "quit"ing has to be started all over again. Only you know how easy or hard it was to not drink for that three weeks. if it was easy, I say go for it, if it was hard, it'll be harder to quit again after the party. Your choice. But don't kid yourself. Last edited by mistawiskas : 03-28-2008 at 04:37 AM. | |
