| | God Damn It, I'm Too Young For This Shit... | permalink #1 |
| infinite resolution | So I'm at school yesterday and I squat down to pick a pen or something off the ground. As I stand back up I feel something in my lower back. It kind of hurts, but I don't think much of it. As the day goes on it gets worse, and hurt pretty badly last night. Well I get up this morning to go to work (the one day a week I do since school is 4 days a week) and my lower back hurts so much I literally can't even stand up straight. To put it bluntly, it fucking hurts. So I called in to work and said I can't come which I hate to do. Now I'm laying in bed unable to sleep. I'm hoping I can get my doctors to get me into a chiropractor or acupuncturists PRONTO. I'm 22, I shouldn't have to be dealing with this shit, I'm 22! Ugh, what a way to ruin my day | |

| Paw? | I had my lower back spasm on me when I was 18 once. I remember I was having lower back pains all day at school and it started kicking in when I was on the bus home. When I got off the bus, I was walking home and my back just gave in. I literally ran in pain to my house to lie down, god it hurt... | |

| infinite resolution | I've actually had back problems since I was like 16, its what took me out of competitive skiing. As a result posture, proper lifting and all those kind of things are actually something I do work on. I've already done two rounds of physical therapy, a chiropractor, an acupuncturist, had numerous x-rays and even an MRI. I do have a herniated disc in my back, but even the doctors have said they don't know for sure if that is the cause of the pain or not. I've had very few problems over the last few years with it, as proved by the fact I can do my tree job, it just acts up sometimes.... | |

| Globe Trekker | Dude, I'm sure acupuncture has some valid uses. But for a guy with a history of back problems you need to stick with a Western style doctor. Those little needles aren't going to do shit for bone or disc issues. But yeah, a physical job like yours is going to do a lot of wear and tear on your body. Just ask Wiskas. I had no idea you had a bad back, you need a different fucking job! | |

| infinite resolution | Acupuncture is great for pain relief, that is why I want it right now As for my job, 99% of the time my back doesn't bother me at all, its only when something stupid like this happens that my work is affected.... strange huh? | |

| Globe Trekker | Oh yeah, for pain relief, sure. I recommend beer too. But over time a very physical job like that can wreak havoc on your body. It's when you're 40+ that you'll really start to notice it and pay the price. (waits for Wiskas or Woodbutcher to preach the gospel). | |

| Too old to be this dumb! | Welcome to my world, 950. The sucky world where you never know when the next time you bend over, you hear the dreaded "pop" of back-pain doom. When this happens to me, I have a routine for it now; totter off to a good chiropractor for one or two treatments, so I can at least walk upright without total debilitating agony, then just being careful with my posture and taking frequent "back breaks", with no lifting, for about 4 days. I only take tylenol/advil/whatever if the pain absolutely drives me to it, because I just don't like taking any of that stuff ever, having watched too much of the "medication for the medication side effects" cycle spiralling family members like my Dad into sudden decline. | |

| Curmudgeon | I know my Dad's chiro recommended he do certain specific stretches and exercises every morning on top of his regular morning workout. As to what those stretches are exactly, I'm not sure. Something to look into if you haven't already perhaps. Even still, sometimes no amount of preventative measures can't stop these injuries. That's just life I suppose, eh. | |

| The one and only | i've been having really bad problems with my lower back ("lumbago") since last week, when it suddenly started during my weekly badminton training. I could hardly move.. and it's getting slowly better every day with loads of pain stoppers. So, i really feel with you! | |

| Globe Trekker | Knock on wood, but since I've started weight training and cardio I've had virtually no back or joint pain. | |

| Hood Rich | Tell me about it. I love working on cars, but working on cars and lifting tires, transmissions, gas tanks, random ass heavy shit, etc all day has really done a number on my back. I can always feel it in my right lower back, sometimes more than others. I'll wake up in the middle of the night too because of it. If it's bad enough, I can usually obtain some oxycontin and that makes it much better, just gotta watch it though. | |

| Fecal Funsies! | i started getting lower back pains last week and still continues but attribute that to poor posture at the computer.. i tend to lean forward sitting down with my hand propping my head up, and it puts a strain on that lower region.. let us know what they say! | |

| King of the Wicker People | Welcome to my world. My back decides it wants to hurt at the weirdest times and has been since I was 15 or 16 years-old. Thanks to genetics and inheriting the "tall" gene, a chiropractor told me long ago that I need to strengthen my core to help my back out in the long run. Of course, I never listened and now I have back aches frequently (usually lower back). | |
