I had 4 of my friends tell me I looked anorexic this weekend.

Time to gain some weight!

Anyways, I got my gym membership today, and I'm going to start going tomorrow. I figure I should use some short of shake after my workout, or is it not worth it until I'm already relatively muscular?

Well, I actually am really underweight. Have been most of my life. I wouldn't mind being stronger anyways

Get a blender make protein shakes with 2-3 tablespoons of peanut butter in them to eat along with your regular 2-3 whole meals per day. Eat at least 5 times a day and if you get hungry, make another big protein shake to eat.

Take your bodyweight and multiply it by at least 20 to get the minimum amount of calories you should eat everyday. The more fat you have in your diet, the easier this gets.

What is your height/weight right now and do you have a goal, or just to be more healthy and whatnot?

I'd have to guess around 125 @ 5'7 or 8.

I'd like to be around 150, but not if it's fat. I'd just i'm pretty 'healthy' except for being so underweight

and GOG, i'm having enough sex right now, but I think it's just burning off more fat instead of building more muscle

me and puffer are exactly the same weight/height..

ive actually come to terms with my size and have gotten alot more comfortable wearing fitting clothes in public.. but like puffer, everytime i gain some weight it doesnt last long. I can burn it off in my sleep.. I think our metabolism is too fast right now, and at my current age it should be slowing down..

puffer, either bulk up on some muscle milk from gnc or online shop..

so wait, does your bmi list you as underweight or are you going by what your friends said?

Step one: Cut a hole in a box.

Whey Protein shake would be good just because it provides you with a lot of protein. You really don't need anything else unless your trying to put on muscle mass.

I make myself laugh.

My BMI lists me as right at the bottom edge of normal weight, but BMI is bullshit, anyways.

Breakfast : egg+cheese sammich, or cereal(honey nut cheerios/honey bunches of oats) + OJ

between breakfast+lunch: powerbar + fruit/yogurt

Lunch: Turkey+cheese sandwich

After Lunch: fruit/yogurt

Dinner: usually chicken breast + vegetables(peppers/broccoli)

After Dinner: Soup or a lean pocket

I have a gatorade after breakfast, and drink water all day
I have a huge bag of almonds at my desk for random snacking, too

edit - I think i'm going to pick up some whey protein this weekend, and see what happens. If I don't notice any real gains by the time school starts, i'll try something else.
What should I look for when buying whey protein?
